Destroying DAP won't make Malays safer, Ibrahim chides PAS for ditching 'kawan' to woo 'janda'

Putra president Ibrahim Ali has given PAS-led Perikatan Nasional a tongue-lashing, accusing the opposition coalition of “slaughtering an old friend to court an old divorcee” and behaving hypocritically.
He also pointed out that the electoral destruction of DAP would not guarantee the safety of Malays and Muslims.
“Because history does not lie. Malays and Islam are damaged by hypocritical Malay and Muslim leaders themselves," Ibrahim (above) said in a statement.
According to his colourful analogy of political betrayal and unlikely romance, the “kawan lama” (old friend) refers to Bersatu, while the “janda tua” (old divorcee) is Umno.
Responding to PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari’s claim that voters would reject DAP, Ibrahim said PN should first clean up its own backyard, where the weeds of internal conflict have long since grown out of control.
He also questioned the rationale for wooing an “old divorcee” who has already “shared a pillow” with DAP under the Madani government.
“PAS is now the leader of PN. It has been less than three months (since PAS took over the reins), yet PN is already in chaos and has turned into a political drama like 'The Three Stooges',” he said, referring to the American comedy trio famous for slapstick humour and their portrayal of foolish, quarrelsome characters who repeatedly found themselves in chaotic situations.
"Is it certain that BN will not be with PKR in GE16? The Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections are a short-term, temporary strategy, with (Prime Minister) Anwar (Ibrahim) giving Umno a lifeline.
"I choose to believe that the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections are a strategy by Anwar and (Umno president Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi). Wait and see what happens at GE16," he said without elaborating.
Fadhli mocks DAP
In a Facebook post yesterday, Fadhli ridiculed DAP over the decisions made by its delegates at the party’s national conference, where they voted against quitting the Madani government, likening the event to an "opera".
He added that the predominantly Chinese party, which PAS has repeatedly accused of seeking to undermine the position of the Malays and Islam despite its repeated denials and pledges of allegiance to the Federal Constitution, would be voted out in the next general election.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim also questioned whether the PAS-led PN could actually defeat Pakatan Harapan, including DAP, and BN in GE16, saying it was too early to assume that the opposition coalition would take Putrajaya.
He also questioned whether PN was capable of governing the country or even becoming a credible opposition, saying voters were already beginning to question the coalition after witnessing the infighting between PAS and Bersatu.

“The people are disappointed with PAS’ obsession with working with Umno-BN, which it once regarded as filth. So, do not expect PN’s ambition to capture Putrajaya in GE16 to win the people’s support.
"The people are beginning to realise the confusing political hypocrisy of PAS leaders. As the saying goes, ‘you can fool people some of the time, but you cannot fool them all the time’.
"The people also want to see results, not just rhetoric. In almost five years, has the SG4 developed, has the cause of Islam progressed, and are Malays no longer poor in the SG4? You also have to look at your own face in the magic mirror," Ibrahim added.
SG4 refers to the four state governments under PAS’ governance: Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Perlis.
In September 2024, the four states formed SG4 Group Sdn Bhd to share wealth among them, including revenue from natural resources.
‘Sign from Allah’
Ibrahim also described the special parliamentary sitting on the royal commission of inquiry on the Tabung Haji report as a "sign from Allah", claiming that it exposed PAS’ hypocrisy.
"Leaving the Dewan (Rakyat) and giving all sorts of excuses to avoid the Tabung Haji RCI debate. Hypocrisy of the highest degree.
"Stop insulting the people’s intelligence. Prove and show proper Islamic leadership, so that Malay Muslims can be proud and non-Muslims will respect and be attracted to Islam," he added.
On Aug 11, a group of opposition MPs from PN staged a walkout from the Dewan Rakyat just before the government presented the RCI report on Tabung Haji.
