Rightist Akmal hit out at Nga Kor Ming who accuses him of being “instigator of racism”

UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has seemingly rekindled his political animosity with National DAP deputy chairman Nga Kor Ming after the latter allegedly labelled the staunch defender of race and religion as “being instrumental in breaking up a multi-racial society”.

This came about as the Housing and Local Government Minister was featured in a Chinese-language video reminding the public “not to allow Akmal to further damage Malaysia’s multi-racial society, spark racial conflict and divide the country’s plural society”.

In his defence, the Merlimau state assemblyman claimed that his actions were not racially motivated but rather aimed at defending the Malaysian flag and the ALLAH inscription (in his March 2024 nationwide boycott call off KK Super Mart).

According to him, the quarters accused of racial division actually consists of individuals who live in Malaysia but still do not understand the Federal Constitution and sensitive matters that need to be respected.

“Kor Ming claimed that I was instrumental in dividing the races and incited racism. I want to ask Kor Ming and all DAP folks since when opposing DAP means we’re up against the Chinese?” the Melaka state Rural Development, Agriculture, and Food Security Committee chairman countered on his social media accounts.

Since when does opposing DAP mean we are inciting racism? We’re opposing DAP because of DAP’s foolishness.

“Policies drawn up by DAP fail to take into account the sensitivity of the majority race in this country. I defended the Malaysian flag and the ALLAH inscription. I didn’t even touch the Chinese as a race at all.

Interestingly, the entire episode was sparked by a so-called a tip-off by Reformati Studio “Albert Tei”, the social media site of Datuk Albert Tei Jiann Cheing, the whistle blower in the centre of the high-profiles Sabah mining scandal.

“Big exposure … Please share and tag UMNO Youth chief Akmal Saleh … watch this video for what is mentioned by the DAP leader Nga Kor Ming in Mandarin which I’ve translated into Bahasa Melayu,” jibed the controversial businessman who is currently a vocal critic of the Madani government.

“Such is DAP’s attitude … instigate the Chinese community in Mandarin especially when elections are round the corner so you guys are caught unaware … Isn’t this (tactic) notorious and dangerous?”

For the record, Akmal was at odds with Nga on May 9 after the latter claimed that the proposed appointment of up to five unelected state assemblymen in the Johor state assembly was inconsistent and hypocritical.

The Russia-trained medical doctor said the Teluk Intan MP’s stance was also seen to be related to political interests ahead of the Johor state polls (July 11).

“I want to ask, why don’t you agree now? Previously, when Pakatan Harapan (PH) did likewise in Pahang you agreed and accepted the motion,” reported Utusan Malaysia.

“You, too, agreed on the appointment of PH’s unelected assemblymen in Sabah even though DAP didn’t win a single seat in the Sabah state polls.”

Nga who is a trained lawyer had earlier claimed that the decision of the Johor State Assembly to approve the Bill regarding the proposal to create five appointed assemblyman positions was against the Federal Constitution.

He went to say that PH would hold a campaign to collect signatures from Johorians in the near future to protest such proposal (which has since been passed). – June 27, 2026
