KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — The father of a 14-year-old boy now in police custody for allegedly killing another student at a school in Bandar Utama said his heart was shattered by his son’s actions.

In an interview with China Press, the 40-year-old man said he never imagined his son was capable of violence.

The man, who declined to be named, described his son as quiet and introverted.

He admitted there was no apology sufficient to make up for what had happened.

“I know whatever I say now means nothing.

“No matter what I do, it won’t bring their daughter back. I don’t know how to face them,” he said.

Police yesterday confirmed that a 16-year-old female student at a secondary school in Bandar Utama was fatally stabbed by a male classmate.

The attack reportedly took place in or near the girls’ toilet of SMK Bandar Utama 4 on Tuesday morning.

Initial investigations found that the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the incident were recovered at the scene.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that a 14-year-old boy had been detained in connection with the case.

Witnesses have alleged that the suspect had previously expressed romantic interest in the victim, though police have yet to confirm the motive.

Recalling the day of the incident, the boy’s father said it had started as usual when he sent his son to school that morning.

He said his son had not displayed any unusual behaviour.

Although his son’s academic performance was weak and he might not have paid much attention in class, he generally was not a troublemaker.

The father said his son had never mentioned the victim, a 16-year-old girl, before.

He added that the incident had deeply shaken him and that he was devastated by what his son had done.

“My son is quiet and introverted. Even if something happened at school — whether he was being bullied or not — he would not tell me.

“I know saying anything now is pointless. Nothing can bring their daughter back,” he said.
