PETALING JAYA, Sept 11 — Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, is reportedly believed to be in a Middle Eastern country as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) continues its investigation into alleged misappropriation.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the country in question does not have an extradition treaty with Malaysia, Sinar Harian reported.

“Efforts to track him (Adlan) are still ongoing and yesterday we (MACC) took action and are hoping that the Home Ministry will agree to our request to cancel his passport,” he was quoted as saying.

Azam added that discussions were also underway with foreign authorities on ways to repatriate Adlan.

Adlan is suspected of involvement in the misappropriation of a government ministry project concerning the registration, recruitment and biometric storage of foreign workers — a probe dating back to August 2023.

Media reports previously said Adlan and lawyer Mansoor Saat had left Malaysia in May 2023, and in October that year, police confirmed Interpol red notices had been issued against both men.
