A Perikatan Nasional MP has decried the authorities’ alleged move not to pursue action over a man’s claim that a migrant worker had molested his daughter on Feb 27 at a convenience store in Kajang, Selangor.

Vowing to offer legal support, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed that the father, known only as Bro Man, would be charged instead for uploading a video of him confronting the Bangladeshi national on social media.

“Why did the police classify this case as NFA (no further action)? Are you waiting for this case to become a national issue like Zara Qairina Mahathir’s case?

“We urge the authorities to explain the matter. As for PN, we are ready to provide (legal) support (to the father),” he said during a press conference outside the Dewan Rakyat today.

Also present was Masjid Tanah MP Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

Wan Fayhsal claimed that the father is expected to be charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

The migrant worker accused of allegedly molesting a nine-year-old

On Aug 9, the police said they were tracking a witness related to a police report alleging that a Bangladeshi migrant worker had molested a nine-year-old child.

Kajang district police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said his team detected a video on X, which featured the allegation.

“Our checks found that a report was lodged by a local man, aged 32, on March 12, claiming his daughter was molested by a foreigner,” he stated.

Naazron added that the police report was lodged about two weeks after the alleged incident.

Why no statement from child?

Meanwhile, the counsel appointed to help the father, Redzuan Yusoff, questioned why the police did not take a statement from the child via the Children Interview Centre (CIC).

“From February until today, no statement was taken from the child using the CIC.

“The suspect was taken to the police station but was released without a remand application, and nothing (happened) after that.

“The suspect had even left his job. My question is, how do the police plan to continue with the probe if you can’t locate the suspect?” he asked.

Migrant worker ‘assaulted’

Meanwhile, Bro Man took to Facebook yesterday and admitted to confronting the Bangladeshi man and even assaulting him out of anger.

Subsequently, he took the migrant worker to the Kajang police station but lamented that the case was not pursued further.

“It’s sad that the investigation could not continue as the CCTV at the store was faulty. No remand, no probe. It went cold.

“That’s why I allowed the video to go viral to ensure the public remains vigilant against such people.

“And yesterday, to my surprise, the case was classified as NFA. Instead, now I’m being investigated for assaulting the Bangladeshi and posting the video.

“But I told the investigating officer, if this is the price I have to pay for protecting my daughter, no problem… I will face it,” he had been summoned to the Shah Alam Criminal Investigation Department today for questioning.

In an update, Naazron dismissed claims that the police had classified the alleged molestation case as NFA, adding that no charges had been filed against the father either, as claimed by Wan Fayhsal.

“The investigation is ongoing,” he said.

Wan Fayhsal also clarified his earlier remark with Malaysiakini, stating that the father is expecting charges to be made against him.
