PETALING JAYA: A tahfiz centre warden was fined RM1,200 by the Kemaman magistrates’ court today for slapping and injuring a student who ate a slice of bread without permission in April.

Norzaizhul Zainudin, 41, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him before magistrate Sharifah Amirda Sharifuddin, Kosmo reported.

According to the charge sheet, Norzaizhul was accused of injuring a 16-year-old by slapping both his cheeks at the dormitory of the tahfiz centre in Kemaman at 3.45pm on April 26.


He was charged with voluntarily causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to one year, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Lim Zhan Yi prosecuted while Norzaizhul was represented by Masliela Ismail.
