An Air India plane with more than 200 people on board has crashed in western India, near to the airport in the city of Ahmedabad, according to the airline and police officials.

Those authorities have not yet specified whether there were any fatalities

The plane was travelling to London's Gatwick Airport in the UK, Air India said. Local police have reported that the flight crashed in a civilian area near to the airport.

"At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates," Air India said on X.

The crash occurred when the aircraft was taking off, the TV channels reported. Visuals from near to the crash site showed debris on fire, with thick black smoke rising up into the sky near the airport as well as people being moved in stretchers and being taken away in ambulances.

At least 242 people were on board the flight, police in Ahmedabad reported.

Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, the director-general of the directorate of civil aviation, told The Associated Press that Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787, crashed into a residential area called Meghani Nagar five minutes after taking off at 1:38pm local time (6:38pm AEST).

Mr Kidwai said there were at least 232 passengers and 12 crew members on board and emergency teams had been activated at the airport in Ahmedabad.

According to air traffic control at Ahmedabad airport, the aircraft departed at 1.39pm local time from runway 23. It gave a "Mayday" call, signalling an emergency, but thereafter there was no response from the aircraft.

Flightradar24 also said it received the last signal from the aircraft seconds after it took off.

"The aircraft involved is a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with registration VT-ANB," Flightradar said.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, the chairman of the Tata Group — which is a majority owner of Air India — said the company's "primary focus" was supporting the families of victims on board and assisting with the emergency response.

"With profound sorrow I confirm that Air India Flight 171 operating Ahmedabad London Gatwick was involved in a tragic accident today," he said in a post on X.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by this devastating event.

"Our primary focus is on supporting all the affected people and their families. We are doing everything in our power to assist the emergency response teams at the site and to provide all necessary support and care to those impacted."

India's aviation minster said he was "shocked and devastated" by the accident, saying his "thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families".

"I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action," Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said in a statement.

"Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site.

"My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families."

The last fatal plane crash in India involved Air India Express, the airline's low-cost arm.

The airline's Boeing-737 overshot a "table-top" runway at Kozhikode International Airport in southern India in 2020. The plane skidded off the runway, plunged into a valley and crashed nose-first into the ground.

Twenty-one people were killed in that crash.

  1. Pretty suspect...AI171

Message sent to the Q group -> the man in the white house? Back off or else more will happen? Similar to MH17?

It is a play of 1 and 7 in any order of combination, forward and reverse...duplicate can read as one, as long as the core numbers are present. 0 is filler, dropped, not included.

These are the stuffs anons were trained for, to assist in the info disbursement that cannot be officially acknowledged.

Will check out if there are any digging involving other information, or prior warning not correctly intercepted. Indian intelligence will be working triple shift on this...

Massive internet outage: Google services, Cloudflare, Spotify all down, users report

    Is the entire internet down?

Around 2:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 12, users started reporting widespread service disruptions at popular websites and apps, including Twitch, Gmail, Discord, Nintendo Switch Online, Spotify, and dozens of other platforms. By 3:30 p.m., some services appeared to be restored, although ongoing outages continue.

The service Down Detector showed a spike in error messages across the internet, and users are taking to social media to complain of problems at their favorite websites. (Disclosure: Ziff Davis owns both Mashable and Down Detector.) Mashable reporters experienced problems accessing some Google services, such as Google Meet, when the outage first occurred.

Cloudflare, a popular IT management company that provides hosting services, is among the services disrupted. Cloudflare reported "Broad Cloudflare service outages" on its website on Thursday afternoon. The company initially reported that they are "continuing to investigate this issue."

However, a more recent message states, "We are starting to see services recover. We still expect to see intermittent errors across the impacted services as systems handle retried and caches are filled."

According to Down Detector, the following sites are experiencing a spike in user error reports:

    Discord

Google (Google Cloud, Gmail, Google Meet, and others)

    Spotify

    Twitch

    character.ai

    Rocket league

    AWS

    Cloudflare

    Etsy

    Pokémon Trading card game

    Snapchat

    fuboTV

    Anthropic (maker of Claude)

    Shopify

    Gemini

    MLB.tv

    Doordash

    Ikea

    Equifax

    Marvel

    Vimeo

    Nintendo Switch Online

    Gitlan

    Calendly

Disruptions to platforms like Shopify and AWS could cause ripple effects across the internet. And because the disruption occurred during work hours, frustrated workers are complaining of problems accessing tools like Google Meet. As of 3:35 p.m., many of the impacted websites appeared to be recovering, according to user reports on Down Detector.

On social media sites like X, confused users are reacting in real-time to the widespread service disruptions across the internet.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new details emerge.

    Air India 171 Crash anonymous  06/13/25 (Fri) 01:42:57a21a6f (1) No.23165843>>23165845

"All bets on the crash are that the plane was overloaded. The 787 has warning systems to prevent a takeoff without flaps as Boeing learned after the crash of Delta 727 in DFW.
From previous experience from flying out of Mumbai in the early 2000's, the cargo loaders were caught selling cargo space on the black marketers for extra cash. We often took off overnight unknowingly several times rotating the aircraft at the end of the runway trying to get airborne. After several instances, we requested a load audit on landing and found un-registered cargo on board and caught the black market schemers. 10-1 it was over loaded… My opinion."

That is a very probable cause anon. Saw the video with the 78 going down and although the climb angle looked relatively normal there didn't seem to be enough thrust to keep the climb going. Weight in the aft cargo hold shiting rearward rendering the elevator ineffective.

A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 people crashes shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad, western India

The local police chief tells the BBC that 204 bodies have been recovered - it's not known how many of those victims were on the plane, or were on the ground when the plane crashed

A British passenger, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, survived the crash - the Indian Home Affairs minister has met him in hospital, while the BBC has spoken to a relative of his in Leicester

Ramesh - who shared a picture of his boarding pass with reporters - says: "Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise… it all happened so quickly"

There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian on the flight, Air India says

The scale of the tragedy is truly, truly, massive… it feels apocalyptic, writes our correspondent Yogita Limaye from the scene
