Guan Eng still has a role in
DAP, says party leader
Teresa Kok dismisses rumours of plans to remove Lim Guan Eng from the party’s leadership, but admits ‘it is up to the delegates to decide’.

Kok dismissed the rumours, saying that such speculation arises in every election.
“Let it be. Every election, there will be rumours. It is all up to the delegates to decide whether a candidate can still contribute to the nation or the party,” she told FMT.
“For me, I believe Lim has his role to play in the party”.
FMT previously reported that there was a “concerted effort” to oust Lim from his leadership position in DAP.
On Monday, party veteran S Neelamekan claimed outside forces were looking to dislodge Lim from his position while another source said a more “moderate” leader was being sought in a bid to attract Malay voters.
However, a party insider claimed that the sentiment against Lim, a former two-term Penang chief minister, had been building for years, with members particularly frustrated by his open rebuke of his successor Chow Kon Yeow.😡😡😡
The DAP party elections are set to be held on March 16.
Asked about her view on the issue of senior members deciding to pull out of the race for CEC posts to make way for new leaders, the Seputeh MP said she respects their decision.
“Retirement is a personal choice. All of us will come to a point where we have to retire from politics to pave the way for the next generation,” she said.
However, she added that she does not yet consider herself a senior member and will contest in the party polls.
As of press time, four DAP leaders have withdrawn from the CEC elections. They are national adviser Tan Kok Wai, national treasurer Fong Kui Lun, and party veterans Phee Boon Poh and M Kulasegaran.
They cited the need to make way for the next generation of leaders as the reason for their withdrawal.
