Missing girl Farah Diana found at male friend’s home

IT takes being a parent to truly understand the fear of losing your child. Much must have gone through the mind of Nor Akmar Hariri, 43, when she found her 17 years old daughter, Nur Farah Diana Mohd Erwadi, missing from her room.


The girl, a form 5 student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tunku Ampuan Durah took along her handphone, school bag and make up kit.

To recap, the victim was found missing from her family’s home in Sikamat, Kelantan around 6am, while the police received her missing report at 7.10am.


Thankfully, an update on Berita Harian stated that the girl was found in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, at the home of a male acquaintance.

According to the news portal, Police Chief (Seremban) Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said the girl’s family had been informed about her whereabouts and were asked to pick her up.

Unlike sons that go missing, many dreadful scenarios can be imagined by families who found their daughters missing, rape and kidnapping being chief among them.

However, instead of expressing relief for her safety, the comment section was filled with condemnation from netizens.

One netizen subtly insinuated that Kelantan was a state where such occurrences were quite common.

Another lamented the loss of morals among the people. He stated the difficulty of raising Islam when the younger generation are in such a state of decline.

Then there was a streetwise netizen who urged parents of missing daughters to first call up their lovers before making a police report.

A netizen went so far to suggest that the family of the male acquaintance should be equally punished for hiding the girl.

To the ladies who plan to go missing just to visit your “loved ones”, do consider the thoughts and feelings of your family members who would be worried sick. A casual date at the nearest 24/7 mamak shop should not be the cause of much inconvenience.

And for the parents, perhaps they could take a tip from netizens to call up their daughter’s boyfriend first before making a call to the police station. But all in all, we can breathe a sigh of relief that Farah Diana is safe. – Aug 2, 2024
