After officially declaring game over for Dubai Move, RPK now claims conspiracy is very much alive ‘n kicking

BARELY 72 hours after conceding that that Dubai Move is done with after having failed to capitalise on that short time frame “when the window of opportunity is open”, fugitive blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) has sung a new tune that the coup “is still on and is far from being dead and will happen probably in due course”.

The mercenary blogger went on to claim that few people have informed him lately that the matter is now in the hands of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) “which means that the Agong just need press the trigger (to consent a change in government)”.

This could have coincided with the last-ditch attempt by PAS which managed to mobilise some 4,000 supporters and sympathisers to gather at the National Palace yesterday (Jan 23) to submit a Memorandum Rakyat to YDPA Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah who will complete his five-year term as Agong on Jan 31.

“But I disagree because the Agong has no authority in the matter as this very much depends on the decision of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whether he wants to remain as Prime Minister (PM) or to call upon the Agong to inform His Majesty that he has lost the support (of MPs in the Dewan Rakyat),” opined the mercenary blogger in his latest video clip.

“The Malaysian Federal Constitution is unique in that the Agong only has the power to hire but no authority to fire when the norm is that a person in such capacity should possess the jurisdiction to hire and fire.”

Another uniqueness of the Federal Constitution, according to RPK, is that the Agong can appoint a PM “not based on black and white (B&W) or evidence” but solely on opinion or feeling (which he need not have to justify) if the PM is able to command majority support of MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.

Current Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah (left) will be replaced by Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar who will ascend the throne as Malaysia’s 17th Agong effective Jan 31

“Anwar was appointed PM in November 2022 not based on B&W but because the Agong felt that he possessed the majority support following the claim by UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that all 30 Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs are backing Anwar,” recalled the self-exiled blogger from his Manchester, UK residence since 2009.

Although it can be disputed if Zahid had the mandate to represent the collective voice of the 30 BN MPs, RPK contended that the Agong still does not have the power to fire Anwar except Anwar himself resigns voluntarily.

“There’s nothing the Agong can do even if he wants Anwar to resign or Anwar ignores the Agong’s order … the PM simply cannot be pressured to step down,” asserted RPK.

In this regard, RPK said an ideal proposal would be for the so-called 120 MPs whom he claimed have signed the statutory declarations (SDs) stating that they no longer support Anwar as PM to stage a media conference to publicly declare their stance.

“This will enable the Agong to better query Anwar if there’s any truth io the matter or that the National Palace is able to later issue a media statement that the Agong has ordered Anwar to pay audience following claims by the 120 MPs that they no longer support Anwar as PM,” reckoned RPK.

“This will be the most transparent manner given that everything is placed under public scrutiny.”

What then is RPK’s final verdict over the ‘new lease of life’ for the Dubai Move conspiracy? “There is many wishful thinking on the social media that Anwar no longer or has lost the majority support and that the Dubai Move is still on and that the matter is in the hands of the Agong … but I don’t see such argument as relevant.” – Jan 24, 2024

  1. Seven days to Jan 31 is a long time in politics.
Anything can happen in seven days.
The Anwar Ibrahim government could fall in seven days.
One key impediment is , Who will the PM then ?
