Should Anwar be accorded the benefit of doubt to rise from the lowest ebb?

In the aftermath of the recent polls, attacks on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PMX) have been intensified. Understandably, he has his own weaknesses. But to be fair, all nine other prime ministers have their shortcomings, too.

As fair-minded civilians seeking to fight corruption, nepotism, cronyism while politicians continue to harp on the 3R (race, religion and royalty) sentiments, the onus now is for every Malaysian to stay the course by rallying alongside the PMX.

This is the journey that every like-minded Malaysian has voted for– we want to see change! Come Sept 16, we would be exactly 60 years old as a nation but we are today lagging behind other ASEAN nations due to corrupt politicians.

Anwar’s enemies have the war chest to fund systematic attacks one after another to erode Anwar’s support base. If one makes enough observations, certain media portal would only carry stories with a certain political slant.

Netizens must learn to ask critical questions and take the stories published in these portals with a pinch of salt.

Is this a case of the deep state or saboteurs at work? Is it obviously an attempt to discredit Anwar when he goes after the key ringleaders? What about some scenes that are created by certain parties that seek to put the Madani government in bad light?


Ardent supporters also fiercest critics

The cybertroopers or any pay-per-hire keyboard warriors will plot and trap the PMX using different situations that will play on the people’s sentiments or touch the raw nerves. Listening to the full explanation by PMX on Bumiputera quota in universities in a separate video released by the government is quite different from the one that has gone viral.

PMX’s foes know the raw nerves that they have to touch before turning an entire community against PMX. Unless Malaysians stay the course – sooner rather than later – not only the Indian community but the Chinese support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) which stands at 98% may drop further.

It is sometimes amazing to see how PMX’s most ardent supporters are also his fiercest critics. Unless the people stand with him, we may have to kiss the vision of a better Malaysia goodbye.

With the number of forces all at work simultaneously to overthrow the unity government, one can expect numerous attempts to be whipped up in the next four years in order to cast doubts on PMX and his administration.

Some of these issues may even catch Anwar and his cabinet ministers by surprise. One cannot help it but ask why were there issues of dress code one after another immediately after Anwar has established the unity government.

The PH chairman and Bersatu president is not only facing the ordinary politicians from the Opposition. His foes are the powerful warlords with deep pockets who have inevitably benefited from the country’s plundered millions – if not billions of ringgit – from the public coffers.

The country may not see the peace that we all yearn for and what’s more the greater economic prosperity until and unless every Malaysian join forces to fight these forces with the PMX.

What is encouraging is to see several of the Malay rulers have spoken up. Daulat Tuanku! Come Merdeka Day on Aug 31 and Malaysia Day on Sept 16, it is a matter of all Malaysians being united and staying together to make a difference. – Aug 23, 2023
