Noh claims Umno now 'passenger' in S'gor, time for PN to rise

Former Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar claimed that the party has lost its strength in the state and is now a mere “passenger” behind its new allies from Pakatan Harapan.

Speaking on Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) stage in Shah Alam, Noh (above) said the time has come for Bersatu, PAS, and Gerakan to rise in Selangor.

“As former Selangor BN chief, I feel disappointed in the fate of several Umno seats in the upcoming state polls.

“If Umno is the passenger, where is BN’s strength? So today PN must rise to replace BN!” said the former six-term Tanjong Karang MP who has been sacked from Umno.

“I believe in PN’s spirit! InsyaAllah with the cooperation showed today, PN will win in the state polls,” he said at Selangor PN’s “Jelajah Selangor Baru - Kita Bangkit” in Shah Alam last night.

Selangor PN chief Azmin Ali in his own speech also welcomed Noh’s support.

Azmin quipped this was despite himself being on the receiving end of Noh’s criticism during his tenure as menteri besar.

“When I was menteri besar he (Noh) had sent Jamal. Remember Jamal?” said Azmin in reference to former Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Yunos, known for his various stunts.

Among others, Azmin recalled how Jamal had accused him of failing to manage Selangor’s water supply and appeared outside the Selangor state secretariat dressed in a towel.

“Turns out behind Jamal is Noh! But now he (Noh) has repented.

“Both of us used to be in dark times. He was in Umno, I was in PKR. But now we unite for a new Selangor!” he said.

Selangor PN kicked off its state election campaign last night with the launch of its machinery.

In attendance were top PN leaders including chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin, Gerakan president Dominic Lau, and PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, aside from state-level leaders.
