DOSM: Malaysia lost RM622.4m to floods last year; Terengganu, Kelantan worst hit states

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — Malaysia suffered RM622.4 million in losses due to floods in 2022, with nearly 60 per cent of these losses suffered by the two states of Terengganu and Kelantan alone, official data released today showed.
This is in comparison to the RM6.1 billion in flood losses suffered by Malaysia in 2021.
In the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s (DOSM) Special Report on the Impact of Floods in Malaysia 2022, the RM622.4 million losses due to floods in Malaysia in 2022 was stated as equivalent to 0.03 per cent against the nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Out of the RM622.4 million losses due to flood last year, public assets and infrastructure accounted for RM232.7 million of the losses, followed by losses related to living quarters (RM157.4 million), agriculture (RM154.5 million), business premises (RM50.3 million), vehicles (RM18.8 million), and manufacturing (RM8.7 million).
The heaviest flood losses in Malaysia last year according to states were recorded in Terengganu at RM215.2 million and Kelantan at RM153.1 million, which collectively come up to RM368.3 million or 59.17 per cent when combined.

Aren't these two states run by PAS?
ReplyDeleteSince it will take 30 to 40 years to solve Kelantan's water problems, finding ways to mitigate floods in these twp states will probably take 60 to 70 years.
And PAS, being one-dimensional, is incapable of finding earthly solutions to earthly problems; such as floods and water issues.
After all, all this is Allah's wish as PAS will say.
