PETALING JAYA: A group dedicated to seeking justice for former political aide Teoh Beng Hock has urged the government to form a new investigation team to probe his death.
Group chairman Ng Yap Hwa said the new government must have the political will to tackle this long overdue issue.
“Given that the police have yet to make any conclusion on the re-investigation of Teoh’s death since 2018, the Teoh Beng Hock Trust for Democracy (TBHTD) urges Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to set up a new investigation team to conduct a thorough investigation,” Ng said in a statement today.
He also urged the home ministry to take the Court of Appeal decision on the case “seriously”.
In 2014, the court had ruled that Teoh’s death was “as a result of, or accelerated by, an unlawful act or acts of persons unknown, inclusive of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers”.
Ng claimed that in the past four years, former home ministers Muhyiddin Yassin and Hamzah Zainudin “did not exercise due diligence” in probing Teoh’s death and possible human rights violation while he was under MACC’s custody.
He called for the new probe to investigate the case from all dimensions, including murder and culpable homicide.
“Previous investigations were trying to prove that Teoh committed suicide, which is neither neutral nor professional,” he said.
He also reminded Anwar that he (Anwar) was one of many political leaders who had gathered at the Selangor MACC headquarters 14 years ago to demand justice for Teoh.
“Revealing the truth in Teoh’s death and bringing the perpetrators to book will restore public confidence in the home ministry, the police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” he said.
In 2009, Teoh, who was the political aide to then Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam, hours after he had gone into the Selangor MACC headquarters for questioning at its office on the 14th floor.
A royal commission of inquiry formed to probe his death concluded that Teoh was driven to suicide by the aggressive interrogation methods used by MACC officers.
It also blamed three officers for their aggressive methods, which it said had violated procedures.

Sad to say, this will be akin to pissing into the wind. Even Lim KHAT betrayed TBH - see below:

Let us not forget Teoh Beng Hock
Alas, someone in the DAP might have forgotten
The evil that was perpetuated on a young manBy a Nazi-like organization that has been rotten
Yet easily forgiven by a political flash in the pan
All for grubby politics, none for integrity nor justice
For a man slain on the very eve of his wedding day
Oh we weep, what treachery to become so solicitous
To abandon principles, an evil crime now is gainsay
But I haven't!

Forgetting Teoh Beng Hock
Hey, my late name was Teoh Beng Hock
Is that even in your memory
Or just a wee footnote in history
My story soon to become mere talk-cock
Those who sinned against me
Cursing my family with veritable untold woes
Making Er Jia a fatherless baby
And those men with no pity
Have become icons by you, your new heroes
Thou faithless headless chooks
Cursing my family with veritable untold woes
Making Er Jia a fatherless baby
And those men with no pity
Have become icons by you, your new heroes
Thou faithless headless chooks
Have further insulted my already grieving family
Giving the enemy support but not rebukes
Ever greater pain my family now brooks
All because of your sad self-interest treachery
Giving the enemy support but not rebukes
Ever greater pain my family now brooks
All because of your sad self-interest treachery
Bhai once said don't be immoral
In desperately seeking victory without morality
Nor should one be ever unethical
But safeguard and value our principle
To never sacrifice and replace with hypocrisy
In desperately seeking victory without morality
Nor should one be ever unethical
But safeguard and value our principle
To never sacrifice and replace with hypocrisy
YOU UNMITIGATED HYPOCRITICAL BASTARDS!

Like KT, I share in his disgust for the betrayal of TBH by people like the elder Lim.
ReplyDeleteI cringe whenever I see the picture of this old man (Lim Kit Siang) shaking hands with the MACC bunch.
Like KT, I know nothing will come out of this plea for a fresh probe into TBH's murder.
TBH's murder case will be consigned to the store room for the files to collect dust with the hope that everybody will forget about the case.
THERE WILL BE NO JUSTICE FOR TBH!
