Zahid takes a swipe at ‘racist’ Kit Siang for bemoaning Malay supremacy
UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has chided retired DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang for inciting racism in the latter’s political campaign in the run-up to the 15th General Election (GE15).
Recall that the veteran lawmaker had in his speech in support of Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Papar, Henry Shim, echoed that Malaysia needs a “Ketuanan Malaysia” (Malaysian supremacy) instead of the “Ketuanan Melayu” (Malay supremacy) policy if the country is to become a great world-class plural nation.
“Firstly, (the) Ketuanan Melayu policy is just a camouflage for UMNO-putras using the name of Bmiputeras to become indecently wealthy and privileged while the poor Malays and the real Bumiputeras continue to be poor and backward,” the Iskandar Puteri MP pointed out.

“Secondly, it is contrary to the original nation-building principles of Malaysia that every citizen in Malaysia – whether Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans or Dayaks – are equal Malaysian citizens and that there are no first-class, second-class or third-class citizens.”
To this, Zahid said Kit Siang’s latest statement does not contribute to ethnic unity at all.
“It risks creating suspicion among our multi-racial multi-religious citizens,” he berated in his latest Facebook post. “Elections are the most important element of democracy, not the element that risks undermining the unity of society.”
The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman is also taken aback by Kit Siang’s reference to “first-, second- or third-class citizens among Malaysia’s various races”.
“This is as if (he wants) to illustrate that racial discrimination exists among Malaysia’s multiracial populace when those citizens are at various important stages in Malaysia. This is made possible by the socio-economic, socio-politic and other successes that have shaped this country from the beginning.”
According to the Bagan Datuk MP, BN is an ideal example of multi-racism as the coalition is made up political leadership and party members of various races.
“DAP itself has been in Malaysian politics for a long time without any restrictions and obstacles. Similarly in the hierarchy of the corporate sector as well as Malaysia’s workforce which consists of various races,” contended Zahid.
“From professionals to gig economy participants. DAP should stop campaigning in this unscrupulous manner.”
Moreover, Malay supremacy centres largely on the privileges of the Malays, Malay sultans, Islam as the official religion and the Malay language, according to Zahid.
“Such privileges have long been established without denying the rights and opportunities of other races in Malaysia,” he added. – Nov 1, 2022

It amazes me that Zahid can, with a straight face, utter such nonsensical drivel.
