KUALA LUMPUR – Could Ampang PKR potentially be headed for another re-election?

An allegation of vote-buying in the division has surfaced yet again, this time against Datuk Hans Isaac.

The claim comes a day after the unofficial result of the re-election for the division chief post. Final counts showed that the celebrity-cum-politician came out victorious by bare margins.

The Vibes has contacted Hans and PKR election committee chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa for comments and is awaiting their respective responses.

In an official complaint lodged to the committee, PKR member, Muhammad Syafiq Zulkifli, has alleged ethical misconduct involving Hans.

According to the document sighted by The Vibes, Syafiq claims the Ampang division chief candidate and those in his team were supposedly involved in money politics in a bid to secure votes during the re-election on Wednesday.

He said he identified the perpetrators as being from Hans’ team via wristbands worn by the supposed malefactors which depicted the latter’s campaign motto “Ayuh Ampang Baru”.

Syafiq also attached a couple of images portraying a person wearing the wristband holding two RM50 notes, although no elements of vote-buying were shown in the pictures.

He also claimed to have video evidence of the supposed act, and that this would be furnished to the PKR election committee upon request via WhatsApp.

When contacted for verification, Syafiq confirmed that the letter was submitted this morning.

Unofficial results released yesterday showed that Hans managed to clinch victory in the race for the Ampang division chief post after edging his closest competitor Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman, or Altimet, by a meagre two votes in the re-election.

The former garnered 748 votes to Altimet’s 746, although official results are yet to be released, with a number of dubious votes yet to be accounted for.

Altimet has submitted a request for a recount to be conducted.

The re-election was held after the PKR election committee decided to revoke Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok’s victory last month and disqualified him from contesting after he was found engaging in vote-buying during campaigning. – The Vibes, July 1, 2022

kt comments:

Maybe PKR has been cursed by the ghosts of 40,000 Bangladeshis whom their party stalwarts used to blame in earlier elections (prior to 2018), wakakaka.
