“Press the button” if you have the numbers, Najib ridicules Muhyiddin
WITH more leaders claiming that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had sought their help to make him prime minister again, ex-prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took to Facebook to mock the former.
“If Muhyiddin already has the numbers, he should be ‘pressing the button’ immediately. Don’t be shy,” he said.
Earlier today, The Star reported Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal as saying that Muhyiddin had approached him two months ago to get support to become prime minister again.
Shafie alleged that Muhyiddin had informed him that he has 119 MPs backing his bid. He also claimed that the Pagoh MP had stated that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was in support of his bid.
“I told him (Muhyiddin) if you have the numbers, you go ahead, I won’t follow you,” the former Sabah chief minister was reported as saying.
It is to note that last month, Anwar acknowledged that while he and Muhyiddin had several meetings, it did not discuss anything about making the latter prime minister again.
This came after Parti Pejuang Tanah Air chairperson Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad revealed that Muhyiddin has met him to secure support for the 15th General Election.
On that note, Najib said that while Pakatan Harapan had signed a memorandum of understanding to support Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the Opposition was plotting to unseat the latter behind his back.
“In the public, both Pakatan and Bersatu say they support Ismail Sabri. However, they quietly garner MPs support to dislodge him.
“And Muhyiddin claims he has 119 MPs backing him. I don’t think Shafie is lying about this,” the Pekan MP remarked. – May 30, 2022
Bossku is really in his element needling his distractors.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to see him in prison garb once his appeal in the SRC case is concluded.
He still has to run the gauntlet of the current court case.
And he behaves like he is a very free man without possible jail hanging over his head!
