PAS spiritual leader wants cooperation with Umno

KANGAR, April 23, 2022: PAS spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin is still hopeful for his party to work with Umno and its Barisan Nasional allies ahead of the next general election.
Speaking to the media at Perlis PAS Complex here today, he said it is not too late for both parties to save their Muafakat Nasional (MN) cooperation, which was formed after the last general election in 2018.
“Together with our friends, I’m determined that no matter what challenges lie ahead of us, we will continue the struggle towards this unity,” he said.
Relations between PAS and Umno have deteriorated due to disagreement over their relations with Pribumi Bersatu. Umno has been against cooperating with its splinter party while PAS was in favour of the three parties working together under the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
Hashim had earlier received a courtesy call from Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who is also the communication and multimedia minister.
Annuar said he was confident that their parties could repair their strained relations and work together for the coming election.
