What honour? Look in the mirror first, Mazlan tells Muhyiddin

Former Johor Bersatu head Mazlan Bujang (left) claims that party chief Muhyiddin Yassin had never given him due respect.

PETALING JAYA: Former Johor Bersatu chief Mazlan Bujang has hit back at Muhyiddin Yassin, saying the Bersatu president should look at himself before questioning his honour.

“Look in the mirror first. You’re like a pot calling the kettle black. Muhyiddin, don’t be arrogant.

“I was not given due respect by the president before, so how can I respect him?” he told FMT.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin took a swipe at Mazlan, questioning his honour in resigning from the party at a time when it was facing the Johor elections.

Noting that Mazlan was throwing his support behind Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming polls, the Bersatu president asked him if he really believed that Umno would field him as a candidate.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, maintained that the departure of the former Puteri Wangsa assemblyman would not affect the party’s preparations for the elections.

Mazlan, a former state executive councillor, resigned from the party as the Tebrau Bersatu division chief yesterday, although he has yet to join any other party.

He said he was backing incumbent menteri besar Hasni Mohammad to lead the state again and establish political stability.

He claimed that other Tebrau Bersatu leaders as well as 23 branch heads had also resigned.

Mazlan had previously said he would not contest in the Johor elections under the Bersatu banner, citing differences with Muhyiddin.
