Will you accept Amanah for sake of ummah unity, Umno man asks PAS

Shamsul Anuar Nasarah agreed with PAS’ stand that the question of unity of the ummah should not be confined to certain groups.

PETALING JAYA: An Umno leader took a swipe at PAS for shutting out its splinter party, Amanah, in pursuing its oft-repeated calls for the unity of the ummah.

Lenggong MP Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said PAS should embrace Amanah if it is insistent that Umno should accept the Bersatu-led Perikatan Nasional (PN) into the Muafakat Nasional (MN) fold in the larger interests of Malay-Muslim unity.

He said today he agreed with PAS’ position that the question of unity of the ummah should not be confined to certain groups or be done in a selective manner.

He was commenting on a statement by PAS Youth chief Abdul Fadhli Shaari who supported party president Abdul Hadi Awang’s stand that MN would be “incomplete” without PN in the grouping.

“I agree with Fadhli’s statement that the concept of ummah unity should not be exclusive to certain Malay-Muslim parties. So will PAS embrace Amanah for the sake of ummah unity?” Shamsul asked in a Facebook post.

“I hope that PAS, being a party that claims to represent Islam, will give us a clear response to this question,” he said.

Hadi had said recently that he was seeking to form a grand coalition of Malay parties in the spirit of the unity of the ummah.

He stressed that MN should not only be confined to Umno and PAS, and urged the group to include PN, which he described as a much more diverse coalition.

Following its poor showing in the recent Melaka state elections, PAS has been torn between working with Umno, the big winner in the polls, via MN, or Bersatu, its partner in PN.

Several Umno leaders have also pushed the Islamist party to choose whether it wants to be with them or Bersatu in the next general election.

  1. Amanah is seen among the conservative Muslim community as a sellout party beholden to DAP.
    And that amounts to toxin.

  3. Frankly, it is sickening to always read about unity of malay/muslim within a multi racial Malaysia.

This shows the depth of disdain the malay/muslim establishment have for the nons.

As I said, how would the malay/muslim react when the Chinese and Indians talk about unity among their respective races to defend and protect their interests?

You can bet these malay/muslim bigots will be foaming at the mouth and draw out the keris. And even threaten bloodshed for "challenging" the ketuanans.
