MP urges govt to probe, reveal findings of ex-IGP’s ‘cartel’ claims, Edisi Siasat
A lawmaker wonders what action has been taken following the damning revelations by former inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, about corrupt politicians and an alleged ‘cartel’ within the force.
Kota Raja MP Mohamad Sabu, in the Dewan Rakyat today, said Abdul Hamid was “not a mere policeman from Gua Musang, or a corporal in Tawau”.
“He was (a former) IGP who exposed corruption and abuse among politicians, including in ‘parti lebai’ (in reference to Pas),” said Mohamad, who is also Parti Amanah Negara president.
“It’s been a while since Abdul Hamid made those allegations. I don’t see any serious investigations, or an attempt to clarify in Parliament if the former IGP had uttered nonsense. If he had, then he should be prosecuted, as he has sullied the image of the country and the police.”
Mohamad also highlighted the allegations made on the Twitter account, Edisi Siasat.
With over 80,000 followers on Twitter, the social media account has been posting damning claims against the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. It also has a presence on Telegram.

“This has led to Tan Sri Musa Hassan, the former IGP, to call for an immediate investigation into the claims, as if it is slander, then action must be taken against those who made such claims. If it is true, then the image of the police force has been scarred.”
De facto law minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said in Parliament today, that the government was investigating the allegations made on the social media platform.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Mohd Kamarudin Md Din said yesterday that police would conduct a thorough investigation into the case and was in the midst of identifying the Twitter user.
Earlier this year, Abdul Hamid alleged that there was a “cartel of dirty cops”. He claimed the cartel, comprising middle-level police officers, was trying to topple him. He also said the cartel would ensure that their cohorts were promoted to bolster their numbers, making it easier for them to do their “dirty work”.

In June last year, former attorney-general Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, alleged that he was told by a senior lawyer that police and a magistrate “could be arranged” in a bid to arrest former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. There has not been any probe regarding the matter since.
