Don’t make Malaysia an “only help your own race” nation
INSTEAD of cherishing diversity, Malaysia is gradually drowning in a sea of racial and religious discord.
This statement holds true if the view of controversial Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) senior lecturer Dr Kamarul Zaman Yusoff a.k.a. Professor Kangkung should reflect the mindset or resonate with the political discourse of the ruling Government.

Specifically, the writer is referring to how good deeds are being misinterpreted to the extent that an act of kindness is smeared with the accusation of “a Christian evangelist chancing on helping an unfortunate Malay boy to eventually convert him to the Christian faith”.
The accusation stemmed from the action of Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim to donate a motorcycle to Foodpanda food delivery rider Anas Hazmi Ahmad which eventually sparked an uproar with Kamarul Zaman offering to pay RM2,000 to those who can reveal the identity and personal information of the Foodpanda rider.
As for allegations that Sim was trying to spread Christianity through his charitable act, Anas stressed that Sim had never talked to him about religion.
“He has never talked about any religion or raised any topic related to religion with me,” he said at a media conference initiated by Sim to clear the air on the brouhaha.
While Sim had already sent a legal letter against Kamarul over the latter’s accusations that his charity works were “Christianisation” works, one wonders with utmost fear and concern on the shallowness of the thought faculty of the lecturer in question.
Malaysians must pray hard that he belongs to the minority group, lest our public tertiary institutions would be infested by narrow-minded intellectuals who bear the sin of sowing discord and disunity among Malaysians of diverse ethnicity and creed.
Anyway, who bothers about that Professor Kangkung who had the cheek to claim that he was not intimidated by former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who made an unexpected appearance at a forum in Shah Alam in March 2018 where he was one of the three panellists discussing if Dr Mahathir is too old to be the head of Government again?
“There are widespread allegations on social media accompanied by photos which portrayed me as being meek by his side, as though I had peed myself in fear as soon as Mahathir arrived at the forum. This is untrue,” he was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini.
Several days after the 14th general election was held and Dr Mahathir came to power as the seventh Prime Minister, Kamarul Zaman resigned from his position as director of UUM’s Malaysian Institute of Political Research.
But UUM has never sacked him for his past misdeeds. – April 30, 2021

It is a reflection of both the man Kamarul is and the religion he represents in his fear mongering of a kind deed as a Christianisation effort.

Stupidity is not limited to the village fool - this man Kamarul should be stripped of his credentials. That's how stupid he is.
