KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 — Selangor recorded its highest ever number of infections at 1,209 cases today from a total of 1,884 positive Covid-19 cases in total, the Health Ministry revealed today.

Sabah was the second highest with 289 cases while Kuala Lumpur had 196 cases.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said only two cases were imported while the rest were locally transmitted.

“The high number of cases in Klang Valley is mainly from the workplace clusters in Teratai which had 1,067 cases and the Damanlela cluster with 101 cases. The 289 cases in Sabah is also high considering the low numbers recently,” said Dr Noor Hisham today during his briefing from Putrajaya.

“From the 289 cases in Sabah, 164 came from close contact tracing while 33 cases today came from the temporary detainment depot, lockups and prisons with 12 from the Bakti cluster, nine from GK Tawau cluster, seven cases from the Seberang Prai prison, three from the Sandakan prison and one apiece from the Tawau and Tembok clusters.”

Till today there are 115 cases being treated in the internal care unit where 48 of them are in need of the ventilator.

There were also two reported deaths today, bringing the total number of deaths to 337.

“Death number 336 was index case-51,858, an 80-year-old Malaysian male who died at the Duchess of Kent hospital, while case 337 was a Malaysian female aged 58 who has a history of high blood pressure, heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Both were from Sabah,” Dr Noor Hisham added.

Selangor has now doubled the number of reported cases consecutively after recording 603 cases yesterday.

  1. Tu-lah, bagi Tan Sri terlalu awal, kepala dia masuk angin sedikit.

Right after becoming TS (not me ya, ha ha ha) the Sabah Shake happened, elections called, the DG should have insisted NO ELECTION, but sudah dapat TS mesti ikut kehendak politik. It all went downhill after that.

Awarding TS title sends the message that Mission Accomplished, Job Well Done, We have Won the Battle, but now we know the Virus Respects No One.

TS's career, through no fault of his, has been stained by Politics and Politicians. He should not have been awarded any Titles until the Covid-19 epidemic is over.

Now compare TS with another academic Emeritus Professor Dato’ Dr Lam Sai Kit who received his Dato' title when he was well in his 60s, after an already outstanding academic career working on Dengue and Nipah virus, and what happened after becoming Dato' was it spurred him further, his career took off again, now he is in a World Class Task Force working on the origins of Covid-19 virus. He did not allow filthy politicians to get in the way of his work.

Dengue and Nipah expert Lam named to Covid-19 task force
    FMT Reporters -November 23, 2020

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian virologist Dr Lam Sai Kit has been named to an international task force to look into the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic and identify strategies to prevent pandemics.

Lam, a research consultant with Universiti Malaya and a senior fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, is an internationally recognised expert on dengue and was involved in the discovery of the Nipah virus in 1998.

He said the task force had been given 12 months to conduct a rigorous review of all available information on the origins and early control of the pandemic, and identify strategies for pandemic prevention.

The 12-member task force is led by Dr Peter Daszak, a disease ecologist who spent years studying coronavirus transmission in China and Southeast Asia.

The task force is part of a Covid-19 commission set up by the Lancet, a weekly medical journal. It will investigate the origins and early spread of Covid-19, said Daszak in a statement.
