Speaker accepts Dr M’s motion for no-confidence vote against Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusoff has accepted former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s proposed vote of no-confidence against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Crucially, however, Mohamad Ariff’s statement published on Bernama’s Facebook did not specify when the motion will be tabled, suggesting that it might not emerge during the single-day May 18 meeting.

Mohamad Ariff’s statement also reiterated his rejection of Dr Mahathir’s separate motion for the former to remain as the Speaker until the current Parliament is dissolved.

“The motion under Rules of Meeting 27(3) has been accepted to be brought to the Dewan Rakyat session in the future,” wrote Muhammad Ariff.

So Mahathir proposed two motions instead of just the 'vote of no confidence' against Muhyiddin. Why?

Wakakaka, Atuk just wanted to ensure he's noticed, still remaining 'relevant' in Malaysia's political sphere. When the eff does the proposed motion for the Speaker to remain becomes an issue, other than to make 'noise' for Atuk's ego (just in case his proposed motion against Muhyiddin was not accepted)?

Some say that Atuk could have 114 MPs backing him when he only has 108 seats, and that it's only a poker bluff to convince waverers to switch sides and effectively fulfil the substance of his bluff, wakakaka. But I doubt he even has that imaginary 108.

Indeed wakakaka again, Mahathir would be lucky to get more than a handful he now has in his PRIBUMI faction (6 including himself), if we count Khalid Samad, Salahuddin Ayub and Lim KS (another 3 ardent Mahathir-ists), Shafie Apdal's Warisan (another 9) and say, KHAT manages to marshal out of his 42 DAP MPs another 24 including KHAT eSS (most of DAP dislike Mahathir) and Salahuddin bravely marshal, say, 10 out the 11 Amanah people including himself.

& also conveniently forget to resign as promised - PODAH

The above should make a grand magnificent total support for Atuk of 6 (his PRIBUMI) + 9 (Warisan) + 24 (DAP) + 10 (Amanah) = 49.

We need to remember that (a) Semburit 'dah cabut-ed ke Moo-Moo-s camp (29) and they are unlikely to support Atuk; (b) Anwar Ibrahim and his 'revised' PKR (all 39) assuredly aren't masochistic enough to vote for Atuk the Old Devil, who has been torturing and tormenting Anwar since 1998 and more emphatically in February this year.

What about PKR against Muhyiddin? If that means indirectly voting for Atuk, wakakaka then it's NO.

Thus it's fortunate that Shafie's proposed vote of confidence in Mahathir has been rejected as it will be embarrassing for Atuk. As mentioned, Anwar and his "revised" PKR (plus some DAP MPs) will give him a BIG FAT ZERO.

But say Atuk is out of the picture, will PKR vote against Muhyiddin? It's the obligation and duty of the Opposition to vote against a PM whom they have accused of being 'backdoor', though constitutionally Muhyiddin as PM is legal. Even an un-elected Liew Chin Tong as a 'backdoor' Senator is legal.

Prior to GE14, Liew used to jeer at MCA and Gerakan for being 'backdoor' senators

Memang Liew meludah ke langit, wakakaka

But as alluded, the motion may not see the light of day on 18 May.
