Najib faces ‘hot questions’ from Apek Cina

Najib faces ‘hot questions’ from Apek Cina

Former prime minister Najib Razak faces off with Apek Cina (Tai Zee How).
PETALING JAYA: Former prime minister Najib Razak has widened his social media campaign by facing several “hot questions” in an interview with YouTube personality Apek Cina, who comments on current affairs.
The questions included Najib’s relationship with his wife Rosmah Mansor, a controversy over jewellery and other luxury items amounting to RM3 million, as well as the scandals surrounding 1MDB.
He was also asked about Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who led a campaign against him from 2016, based on the 1MDB scandals, culminating in Najib’s fall from power in last year’s general election.
“I still respect Dr Mahathir Mohamad as a prime minister and a senior. I haven’t forgotten that he has helped me in my career as deputy prime minister,” Najib said.

when Najib was then PM

He said that even though they both held conflicting views, the differences were a matter of politics and not personal.
In the 17-minute-long video, Apek Cina (real name Tai Zee How) asked about the current location of RM3 million in jewellery and other luxury items that Najib was reported to have bought.
“I gave them as gifts to the families of foreign leaders who are close with Malaysia, so I was essentially promoting the relationship between Malaysia and other countries,” Najib said.
He prompted Tai to go ahead and search his house, but he said he has receipts and even letters of thanks from the foreign families.
Asked about his trial on charges of corruption and abuse of power involving funds belonging to 1MDB, Najib said: “I am confident in my integrity and innocence, based on the evidence that has been and will be presented in court. The question is whether the government is ready to accept that I am not guilty.”
Najib would not answer other questions about 1MDB on the grounds that the matter was sub judice (subject to court trial) and not for public discussion.
On the Apek Cina channel on YouTube, which has 14,600 subscribers, Tai has held interviews with political figures, such as MCA president Wee Ka Siong and former Umno Supreme Council member Ahmad Mazlan.
Tai says on his Facebook that he “interprets mainstream news from Chinese newspapers in Malaysia, with certain sarcastic commentaries meant to entertain the viewers”.

  1. Jibby is more Machiavellian than Toonsie....admitting that he committed the crime of cronyism but blaming the rakyat for being the cronies and asking for them to be jailed together with him.....

Najib calls Malaysians his ‘cronies' since they gained from BN’s policies

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak named all of Malaysia as his “cronies” when challenged to identify these during a mock interview posted online....

...When the “Apek” in the interview set him up to identify the people who benefited from the acts that led him to be accused of corruption, Najib claimed it was the citizens of Malaysia after it was suggested to him that his “cronies” would likely be Chinese and Malay tycoons.

“That's not true apek. Apek, do you know who are my cronies? In truth, my cronies are the people,” Najib said.

“The rakyat, because my policies were to help the rakyat, and I don't have anyone whom I assume as my cronies.”

When the interviewer asked if this meant Malaysians should also be imprisoned if his “cronies” were jailed, Najib agreed.

“That's right. We all go in,” Najib said.

  2. He claims that the RM3m worth of jewellery was purchased for foreign leaders as it is customary in their culture to give expensive gifts.

But why must Jibby use his personal credit cards which were funded by pensioner's money (KWAP) to purchase these gifts? He was the Finance Minister. He should know better.

And if it was customary to give gifts then what did that foreign dignitary give to Jibby and Rosmah in return? Where are these gifts now? Were they given back to our Treasury or simply kept at his house? Oh sorry I forgot, Jibby WAS the Treasury and the Treasury safe was in his house.....ha ha ha...

  3. If Jibby is so innocent he must not be a coward and take the stand at his SRC trial when his defence is called.....then he can proudly proclaim.....

"Waktu itu saya PM dan Menteri Kewangan, semua Khazanah simpan di rumah Ajibkor. Lagipun KWAP = Kumpulan Wang Ajibkor Punya.....faham...?"

  8. Talking about “hot questions” we can expect more diversions and mass distractions on this blog as Jibby’s 1MDB trial this week features Shahrol Azral Ibrahim, the CEO who was at the helm during much of the deals and scams, will take the witness stand and face “hot questions” from Gopal Sri Ram, the lead prosecutor.

If you thought Jibby’s former private assistant Amhari’s testimony was damaging to Jibby’s reputation wait till you hear Shahrol’s testimony.

    2. Shahrol's testimony today:

Jibby approved 5B to develop Pulau Bidong as a resort, using TIA, a RM2 company, without cabinet knowledge or approval.

And using ISLAMIC banking instruments too...

      QUOTE
Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho was pushing hard to start a development project in Pulau Bidong, Terengganu, on a RM5 billion borrowing, the High Court heard today.

Former Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) CEO Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi said the businessman, better known as Jho Low, prepared letters to the authorities and Treasury officials and he (Shahrol) signed them.

He said TIA, which was a RM2 company, wanted to raise RM5 billion through Islamic medium term notes and Ambank Islamic was selected for the purpose.

He said the borrowing was supposed to be guaranteed by the federal government and the money was needed quickly as the Pulau Bidong development had been planned.

Shahrol, who was appointed as TIA CEO on March 23, 2009, said the target date to raise the funds was end-May that year.

The 9th prosecution witness said there were meetings between TIA representatives and Treasury officials to meet the deadline.

“Jho Low also suggested that I push finance ministry officials while he would also do the same with the finance minister from top down,” he said when examined by ad hoc prosecutor Gopal Sri Ram.

Asked to explain what he meant by finance minister, Shahrol said Najib was holding the portfolio at that time.

He said Jho Low had prepared a letter for Najib, which he signed in his capacity as TIA CEO.

    3. Jibby wants to distance himself from Jho Low but too bad Shahrol's testimony today is embarrassing...."Milo Man"...

      QUOTE
Witness: Jho Low was a regular at Najib's home, would ask for 'Milo ais'
      NATION

      23 Sep 2019

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A witness told the High Court here that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, was seen to be so close to Datuk Seri Najib Razak, that he requested for a "Milo ais" as soon as he stepped into the former premier's residence.

Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, 49, the ninth witness for the prosecution and former chief executive officer of state-owned sovereign wealth fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), said that he witnessed this when he was taken to the former premier's residence in Putrajaya, by Jho Low himself.

Shahrol Azral said this during examination-in-chief by senior deputy public prosecutor and former Federal Court judge Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram on Monday (Sept 23) during the 11th day of Najib's trial.

Najib, 66, faces four charges of abusing his position to obtain gratification amounting to RM2.3bil of 1MDB funds, and 21 money laundering charges involving the same amount.

The Pekan MP is alleged to have committed the first four offences at the Jalan Raja Chulan branch of AmIslamic Bank Berhad between Feb 24,2011 and Dec 19,2014, while the money laundering was committed between March 22 and Aug 30,2013 at the same location.

"Jho Low took me to Datuk Seri Najib's home and it looked like he was familiar with various parts of the residence," the witness said.

He added that as soon as they arrived at the front gates, Jho Low was given immediate access into the compound, and once he was inside the residence, he requested for a "Milo ais" (iced Milo drink) from helpers before meeting with Najib.
