An Australian senator who blamed the New Zealand terror attack on Muslim immigration has punched a 17-year-old boy after he was egged at an event in Melbourne.
Video footage recorded at the event appears to show Fraser Anning, a far-right independent Queensland senator, halfway through a press conference when the teenager cracked an egg over his head while filming with a mobile phone. The senator responded by punching the 17-year-old. The teenager was then tackled to the ground by Anning’s supporters and held in a chokehold.
The boy was later take away by police and released without charge. Victoria police are investigating the incident.
Anning was criticised on Friday after trying to seek attention by saying the mosque attack highlighted a “growing fear over an increasing Muslim presence” in Australian and New Zealand communities.
Fraser Anning will soon leave parliament – but his xenophobic message will not.
The Australian prime minister, Scott Morrison, said Anning’s comments blaming the Islamic community for the shooting were “appalling and ugly and they have no place in Australia”.
The prime minister announced the government would censure him.
The Australian Labor party leader, Bill Shorten, said Anning was “chasing a headline”.
“I do wonder if he’s made Australians less safe overseas,” he said. “That’s another reason not to give this fool any more oxygen.”
A change.org petition calling for Anning’s expulsion from parliament has amassed about 250,000 signatures.
If that boy had done an egg-job on a MP here he would have been in real deep trouble, as former DAP member Jufazli Shi Ahmad found that out for a far less physical act, namely, insulting the PM in this land of "New" Malaysia.

Police attempted to arrest him at his house earlier today after a police report was lodged against him.
FMT reported (extracts): In a live-stream on his Facebook page today, Jufazli showed at least four police personnel in his house who had come to pick him up.
He said he refused to follow them as they did not have an arrest warrant.
The video received 310,000 views, attracted 33,000 comments and was shared 6,669 times.
At least one police report had been lodged against Jufazli for his alleged attacks on Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
In the 58-minute video, he continued to accuse Mahathir of various crimes, including corruption, power abuse and colluding with PAS president Hadi Awang and Sarawak head of state Taib Mahmud.
“I will not give full cooperation to the police if they do not follow the law and their own procedures,” he said in the video.
Jufazli had been a staunch supporter of the new federal government until early last month and had showered praises on Mahathir and his leadership.
Intentionally attacking someone with an egg is a criminal offence under the Penal Code.
ReplyDeleteKindly do not promote violence to further your political agenda.
As for the exDAP member, let the police investigate. Whether there is a proper criminal case is for the DPP to assess. If he actually gets unfairly charged , you can go ahead and excoriated the New Malaysia.
I have not forgotten how Ah Mok kwai-kwai kept silent as a Graveyard when his Bossku went on rampage abusing government powers to protect himself against prosecution.
you seem to know Australian laws better than Australian police, who BTW released that youth. As usual you talk kok and would try to earn your dedak by either slipping in a sneak attack on me or stab opportunistically at Najib

DeleteAustralian statute book.
There is no country with proper rule of law where intentionally throwing an egg at a person is not against the law.
In this case the Senator and the police probably mutually agreed not to press charges, knowing he is already mired in controversy.
A silly 17 year old kid getting a criminal conviction for assault would have serious negative repercussions on his future prospects.
I watched Jufazli's video (yawn). It was a 58-minute vitrol from a very angry young man. He made many accusations and said many uncomplimentary things about many individuals, current and past PM, MACC, polis etc. The polis could have wanted to bring him in for questioning (not arrest) for any number of things that he said on the video, but KT just assume it is because of the single specific accusation he made against Toonsie. But it is equally possible that the polis wanted to question him over things he said about investigations that are ongoing (Kevin Morais, MACC, Taib, PAS, Hadi etc). So please be fair.
ReplyDeleteAs for the egg the young man should have used a cricket ball.
ReplyDeleteyeah, can reused n recycled somemore. very pakatan way.
DeleteJacinda Arden, the NZ PM has vowed that their gun laws will be tightened. Brave words but is that enough? Naive and inadequate by my thinking.
ReplyDeleteGuns are only the means, the physical weapon. You need to tackle the root cause like Toonsie says, ie the human beings behind these acts.
Terrorists have shown that they don’t need guns to kill. Planes, cars and fertiliser, pesticide ingredients (NZ is an agricultural country) will do just fine. Or everyday items eg knives and hammers like in Bourke St Melbourne recently. Or VX nerve gas, ricin, biological toxins etc. So what will she do about these other “weapons” some of which are everyday innocuous items? Focussing on just guns is knee jerk reaction.
