from The Age (Melbourne): Abramoff was paid $US1.2 million ($A1.6 million) from the Malaysian Government for his services in 2001 and 2002, according to an Abramoff associate. Documents obtained by Senate investigators appear to confirm at least $US900,000 of that amount. Abramoff has pleaded guilty to improperly influencing members of Congress and their aides. He often routed lobbying fees through non-profit organisations to evade taxes or hide the sources of funds. It's not clear how central Abramoff was in arranging the Oval Office session for Kuala Lumpur. [...] The Malaysian embassy did not respond to requests for comment on Abramoff's work. But bills from the American International Centre to the embassy have been turned over to a Senate committee investigating Abramoff's representation of Indian tribes, which he has admitted to defrauding. On one occasion, Abramoff, an Orthodox Jew and avid supporter of Israel, was asked whether he was comfortable representing a country led by a man known for anti-Semitic comments. Abramoff responded: "They pay their bills on time." |
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 4 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s plain-spokenness can be advantageous to Malaysia by ensuring the country’s points are heard on the world stage, said Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
He said he expected Dr Mahathir to keep playing an “active role” in commenting candidly on international issues such as Palestinian rights.
“I think Dr Mahathir will be Dr Mahathir. He will speak his mind. He is strongly opinionated, and that is helpful in terms of foreign policy,” he told Malay Mail in an exclusive interview.

Najib's handshake and photo-op with Trump cost Malaysia USD30 billion !
ReplyDeleteThis is the only time when the leader of a poor Third World Country, 1 Trillion in debt, visited the White House and promised to pump in USD30 million, sorry I mean BILLION, into the US, buying their commercial planes and plane engines.
And meanwhile the Air Force of this Third World Country, 1 Trillion in debt, doesn't have money to keep its jet fighters air-worthy, thereby endangering the lives of their pilots every time they fly.

Trump thanks Najib as Malaysia looks to buy US$20 billion jets and more
AFP and Reuters | September 13, 2017
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump welcomed Prime Minister Najib Razak to the White House today, amid questions about his guest’s involvement in a spiraling corruption scandal.
“I want to thank you very much for all the investments you have made in the United States,” Trump said during a joint appearance in the Cabinet Room, heralding a Boeing deal worth “US$20 billion”.
According to Reuters, Najib during a meeting attended by top advisers told Trump that Malaysia Airlines would buy 25 Boeing 737 jets and eight 787 Dreamliners, and would probably add another 25 737s in the near future, a deal he said would be worth more than US$10 billion within five years.
Najib said the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) wanted to spend US$3 billion to US$4 billion on US infrastructure development.

What is not calculable in RM is also in return for the Ahjib visit is how much secrets/intel was given to the CIA by his MEIO in return for the DOJ to close one eye on his case?
DeleteSuddenly after the visit, the news of Reza Aziz (stepson) settling a case with the DOJ rather seems fishy now.
Is the visit more meant to save the Stepson?

ReplyDeleteReality... Bush to Premier Lee... the price for providing the unsinkable US Aircraft Carrier base (defacto if not in name) at Changi...the only permanently available port of call for US Carriers between Japan and the Gulf States.
It also makes Changi the pre-programmed target for any number of Russian and China ICBMs....if they are ever fired in anger.
Serve kt right!
DeletePerhaps, next time he would consult/research baik2 before he farts lah!
But, then kpi requirement is tight & demanding. No trainer is so much simpler to mass produce.
