KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu PAS Youth is the latest to criticise the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia's (Suhakam) statement over the caning of two women who pleaded guilty to having same-sex relations.
Likening Suhakam’s statement condemning the caning to insulting the Syariah High Court's decision, state PAS Youth Chief Kamaruzaman Abdullah said the punishment meted out to the women was in accordance with God’s orders and no one had the right to question it.
"God had ‘gazetted’ LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) practices as unnatural.
“Whoever goes against God’s teachings is lost,” he said after lodging a police report against Suhakam’s statement at the Kuala Terengganu police station on Sunday (Aug 19).
He said the state Youth wing was shocked by Suhakam chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail’s statement, which was issued on Wednesday (Aug15), claiming that he had turned his back on the rule of law.
"We view this very seriously because if such a thing is allowed to carry on, it could be disastrous to the rule of law where anyone can belittle religion and criticise court decisions," he said.
He advised Razali to be more careful when issuing such statements as it could also affect national harmony.
On Aug 12, the Syariah High Court here sentenced two women each to a RM3,300 fine and to be caned six times after they pleaded guilty to attempting to have sexual relations in a car in Dungun.
The punishment drew the ire of many human rights groups including Suhakam who called the punishment "humiliating" and "demeaning".
Suhakam also said the punishment was "an attempt to publicly embarrass the women and their families".

ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Ktemoc's UMNO masters are now mighty buddy-buddy with PUS.
Not just Islam, but Christianity and Judaism advocates canning deviants.

DeleteWhat does the year matter? Does the Bible have an expiry date? Does it mean when its expired, all of its words and teaching can be thrown into tong sampah?
Yes it has long expired.
DeleteJohn, how well do you know GOD? Not the Biblical or Quranic Gods but the living GOD
DeleteYes, true but they no longer practice it. Theirs is in the historical context.
Deletestate PAS Youth Chief Kamaruzaman Abdullah said the punishment meted out to the women was in accordance with God’s orders and no one had the right to question it.
ReplyDeletethat is how they prefer to win an argument...isn't God great to simple and easy going folks like them
How he knows it is from GOD.
DeleteThis religion does things to your brain.
ReplyDeleteSince Moslems opted for and are subjected to Syariah Laws and the Syariah courts of punishments, there is little anyone can do to prevent the punishments from being meted out.
ReplyDeleteSome like to live their lives guided by religious laws made thousands of years ago is also their choice.
Why don't PAS Youth request for live telecast of those punishments instead of just issuing press statements?
And why PAS Youth issuing statements instead of from the State Muftis or Syariah Court Judges?
Everyone can easily see how religion is being also used as a political tool by political parties in Malaysia and all over the world.
But they did not choose to be Muslims, and they cannot get out of Islam.
DeleteYou cannot guide the ones you love. God is the only One who guides in accordance with His will, and in accordance with His knowledge of those who deserve the guidance. (28:56)
ReplyDeleteO you who believe, you should worry only about your own necks. If the others go astray, they cannot hurt you, as long as you are guided. To God is your ultimate destiny, all of you, then He will inform you of everything you had done. (5:105)
O you who believe, your spouses and your children can be your enemies; beware. If you pardon, forget, and forgive, then God is Forgiver, Most Merciful. (64:14)
Say, "Shall I seek other than God as a lord, when He is the Lord of all things? No soul benefits except from its own works, and none bears the burden of another. Ultimately, you return to your Lord, then He informs you regarding all your disputes." (6:164)
They follow idols who decree for them religious laws never authorized by God. If it were not for the predetermined decision, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, the transgressors have incurred a painful retribution.* (42:21)
Peace.
my family and friends worship what you call "idols"
DeleteWe can only pray to God to guide them, but not for forgiveness, not until they worship Him alone. Peace.
DeletePonder over His Words....Had your Lord willed, all the people on earth would have believed.* Do you want to force the people to become believers?
