BANGI: MCA is not capable of exercising check-and-balance unless the party fully reforms, said DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang.
“Like it or not, MCA should reform (carry out changes) if they (leaders) want to become a party that has credibility and to regain the people’s trust.
“Same goes for Umno; if they want to change and gain back the people’s support. They need to reform and change,” he told the reporters at the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Balakong by-election campaigning programme here today, accompanying PH candidate Wong Siew Ki.
He was commenting on the less support by the people on MCA and the party was not relevant after the 14th General-Election (GE14).

So, our "Headmaster" wants to teach the MCA and UMNO what to do as opposition members. In fact, he demands to teach everyone on Earth including Aung San Suu Kyi a few years ago, to wit, for her to speak up for human rights for the Rohingyas and protect them from ethnic cleansing.
His own hypocrisy has been such that on 10 September 2007 I penned a letter for him titled: Lim KS not fit to advise Aung San Suu Kyi. A copy of that letter follows:
Dear Uncle Lim,
Aung San Suu Kyi is a good person, just like you once were.
She might have appeared to remain silent, but only for her own survival, both personal and political. She has suffered far more you could have experienced or could have imagined.
Aung San Suu Kyi is a good person, just like you once were.
She might have appeared to remain silent, but only for her own survival, both personal and political. She has suffered far more you could have experienced or could have imagined.
You, on the other hand, have remain silent to the 'sins' of your current ally Mahathir, but only for your own glory, both personal and political, as you approach your political twilight years.
So please shut the f**k up and stop pretending to be a moralistic person when you have already compromised your once much vaunted statesmanship.
So please shut the f**k up and stop pretending to be a moralistic person when you have already compromised your once much vaunted statesmanship.
And in response to Headmaster's pompous but hypocritical admonition to the MCA on how to be a 'check & balance' opposition, Senator Ti Lian Ker ask the same of him, as reported in:
Senator Ti Lian Ker has questioned Lim Kit Siang's silence on controversial decisions by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the new Pakatan Harapan government, accusing the DAP veteran of losing his voice.
Saying the Lim of old used to "roar like a lion" on issues such as Proton and Khazanah, Ti, who is MCA publicity spokesperson, pointed out that the former along with other DAP lawmakers in the new Pakatan Harapan government have now "turned lapdogs".
Ti referred to a 2012 article on Lim's blog written by philanthropist Koon Yew Yin, which stated "Proton is the price of brainless patriotism" and that the founding of Proton National Bhd in 1983 was an "expensive mistake".
"Despite grouses and unhappiness, DAP who use to roar like a lion on all issues are now reduced to without a whimper on glaring misdemeanors and non-compliance of what they used to preach.
"Where is Kit Siang's voice now when Mahathir said he wanted to do a third national car?" Ti said in a statement today.
Ti claimed Lim also said nothing when his son, former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng was made finance minister despite facing corruption charges.
He added that the Iskander Puteri MP, had also not revisited Harapan's pledge prior to the 14th general election that it would support the establishment of a commission to investigate all accusations against Mahathir during his tenure as prime minister.
This, said Ti, included the premier's alleged involvement in the 1990s forex scandal, concerning losses by Bank Negara through foreign exchange trading more than two decades ago.
"His deafening silence is definitely a new Kit Siang and DAP in the making now that they have tasted ministerial power. Obviously DAP and Kit Siang have now abandoned what they preached and stood for in the past," Ti said.
Hence, the senator said DAP was not capable of keeping the new government in check, as it is becoming "subservient" to Mahathir.
"Don’t talk about reforms...It seems that Kit Siang and DAP are now completely under the thumb and control of Mahathir. DAP no longer and cannot be relied on for the checks and balances that Malaysians crave any more.
"Let us MCA take over and play that role now," he said.

MCA take up the role if checks and balances?
ReplyDeleteMy toes are laughing.
Tu Lan Ker has nothing to say about the 1MDB missing Billions.
His Boss UMNO's dalliance with PUS and the Islamic State.
Is MCA now silent/OK on the Islamic State Agenda ?
People like Tu Lan Ker sold the Chinese communities interests to UMNO for decades.
The young MCA members may be blameless, but long term leaders like Tu Lan Ker were part of the problem.
what about long term leaders like Lim Kit Siang and his son, both now SILENT like lil' lapdogs in face of Mahathir's past scandals and present unilateral policy statements
Deleteyour mouth is too FULL of DEDAK
For this DAP hater, LKS or LGE must have once raped his wife or mother. That was the reason why I said he should join a political party and be active like the Lims to right all the so-called wrongs of what Dr M or the Lims have committed. Don't hide in your room to take pot-shots at them without you daring even to show yourself. In summing up, you are just a tin kosong good in making noises only without action.
DeleteAh Moc is not a DAP hater.
DeleteThere is no hate involved.
Just lots of money as Dedak lubricant.
dap hater or no still would not conceal the fact that lims is a dogs.
Deletechabo, lks IS a ""politician"" not the dalai llama and I dare say no politician can ever measure up to the immaculate principles and standards you possess and demand onof others on even your most generous day unless you first understand the roles of a politician...others may be corrupt but let not we ourselves
ReplyDeletePrime Minister Mahathir Mohamad visited China and we at DSF predicted two months ago that the new third national car programme would likely be a joint venture with Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company LYNK & Co. Why?
Well, LYNK & Co is a new brand by Geely Auto.
In 2017, we saw the launch of the 01, the first product from Geely Auto’s newest brand LYNK & Co.
“Born global and connected”, LYNK & Co set a new benchmark for EV manufacturing globally with a brand new plant in China.
This high technology/ultra-modern plant combines technology and manufacturing know-how from the Geely and Volvo Cars units of China auto giant Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
The Zhangjiakou complex builds the LYNK & Co 02 SUV and a sedan called the 03 for the Chinese market.
Currently, the plant employs about 1,800 workers on one daily shift, working alongside nearly 300 robots.
When the factory goes to a second shift, it will employ 3,000 people capable of building about 200,000 cars per year. These employment and production levels are consistent with auto plants in mature markets globally.
Important to note – LYNK & Co is building left-hand drive vehicles right now for China and European buyers.
If Malaysia were to work with them, Malaysia can be the manufacturing hub for right-hand drive vehicles which would allow easy sales access to Asean including Australia and New Zealand.
Current LYNK & Co models are plug-in hybrids but they are working towards a full EV lineup in the coming years.
Other than a claimed electric range of 50 km, the plug-in hybrid is a pairing of a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with an electric motor.
LYNK & Co plans to gradually add more EVs to its lineup and this is where Malaysia’s third national car programme will start.
If Malaysia starts talking to LYNK & Co right now, by the time negotiations are concluded and the new factory built, the full EV lineup can be ready for assembly in right-hand drive.
Malaysians and others in the region can then enjoy Malaysia’s third national car that will be a full EV with a Volvo build and Geely battery power. Think about it!
Agreed, Volvo and Geely are serious global players. So I suggest we bring in the Volvo build and the Geely battery and manufacture the car at the Proton Tanjung Malim plant which can have a capacity of 200,000 units per year. Wallah, all the engineering capability and technology that the old man wants, right here on Malaysian soil. Give them tax free incentive to conduct R&D in Malaysia. He just can't stomach the fact that Najib will get some credit for bringing Geely in.
Deletethe ignorant mahathir dun wan hub, he wants a mahathir car. start with a mahathir bicycle la. bodoh punya pm.
Deleteanyone who says that reforms are not being implemented or are in the works are being disingenuous or lying to themselves
ReplyDeletemca is damn right in saying that they should assume the check and balance role in fact the rakyat and lks demands that they play that role, lks is just being corky at prodding them
Harapan is the Check and Balance, like the old Dacing, only much BETTER. If TDM thinks he can push on with the Third National car he is badly mistaken, just like the Bersatu Perak MB who thinks he can push DAP/Amanah/PKR around when they (Bersatu) only have 2 seats. With a simple flick Aziz Bari will be the new MB. Check and Balance. TDM too. His latest lament about Malaysians wanting to remain as consumers, not producers etc is the inward admission that he does not have support within the Harapan government. He simply won’t have his way on this one.
ReplyDeleteQUOTE
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has faced a mountain of resistance over his proposal for a third national car project, including from members of his own government.
Mahathir had expressed his frustration through his typically sarcastic responses, and that frustration showed again in an interview yesterday when Malaysiakini probed him about the matter...
