He stressed that his ministry is still studying the matter and has not yet made a decision.
“Once again, I want to stress that whatever decision we make on the recognition of the UEC, it will be comprehensive and holistic, without jeopardising the position of Bahasa Melayu as the national language,” he said in a statement.
He said that although Pakatan Harapan had promised to recognise the Chinese school leaving certificate, the equivalent of SPM, in its 14th general election manifesto, as the government now, it has to “consider the standing of Bahasa Melayu as the national language and how the decision to recognise UEC may affect the country’s harmony”.
fCk the world's recognition of UEC - we don't want Malaysia to do so because it's a Chinese certificate |
Maszlee has come under fire after saying last Thursday that he would fulfil the electoral pledge regarding the UEC.
His critics, including Umno Youth Chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, claimed that recognising the UEC would throw the country’s education into disarray and hamper national identity and racial integration efforts.
Mahathir was the man who first threatened the Chinese Independent Schools (MICSS) on the UEC and warned them not start this private line of educational accreditation.
His critics, including Umno Youth Chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, claimed that recognising the UEC would throw the country’s education into disarray and hamper national identity and racial integration efforts.
His initial brave words just a mere 2 days ago on recognising the UEC, namely, “We are going to make sure whatever policy that we have to make or whatever decision we are making, there will be no U-turn or any flip-flop, and it has to be holistic”, sounds rather hollow now.
His "there will be no U-turn or any flip-flop" is conditional on "whether the government recognises the Unified Examinations Certificate (UEC) for the public sector or not, and that ... his ministry is still studying the matter and has not yet made a decision."
From his words 2 days ago the decision has obviously been made, but he's now singing a different song, backtracking, U-turning and flip flopping.
On the top of the unseen protesters is likely to be Mahathir himself.
above may explain his choice of ministers Guan Eng oy Guan Eng, wakakaka |
In 1975, when the MICSS decided to hold its first Unified Examination, the Chinese education leaders were summoned to Parliament by then Education Minister, Mahathir, and were told in no uncertain terms to cancel the examination “or else…!” and who then dismissed them like mandores with an imperialistic "That's all!"
Now we hear from Pribumi new fairy tales of PH only including recognition of the UEC among the 60 pledges which needn't be fulfilled immediately - perhaps in 59 years time?
When will cheebye motherfucker kaytee going to perform naked protest in person in front of madhater.....i will get ready with camera.....i will morally support if kaytee dares
ReplyDeleteI did NOT fCk your mom lah
So, when is the National Referendum going to take place?
ReplyDeleteIt will help to get all the politicians out of this quagmire whether it's PH or BN since both promised in their manifesto and do not want to be seen lying without any valid cause.
I believe it was a trap set by Ahjib with the connivance of MCA since most of the Dong Zong and Jiao Zong members are pro MCA supporters of the previous regime. They publicly voice support for BN in the last GE14 election.
Protector and Champion of Chinese education whether SJRK (C) or private vernacular schools (UEC) was actually the Raison de Etre of the MCA survival for the past 60 years in BN and trapping a lot of uneducated Chinese voters to support them for the sake of protecting their children's mother tongue education.
DAP should not champion this issue strongly until all the various chinese education associations have undergone a complete revamp of their leaders. That goes too to all the Chinese Guilds and Asssociations in commerce and trade.
DAP can always come out with another initiative to promote learning of Mother tongue language via the current national school system. It is also protected in the Constitution.
Hopefully DAP and PH leaders will be wise and not fall for the old BN/MCA dogma with regard to UEC recognition.
Your Bijan sat on the UEC issue for 10 years, and you did not condemn him for it.
ReplyDeleteHarapan has been in office for 70 days , and you are carping every day.
Mazlee was just clarifying to the Malay supremacists crowd .... they are Malaysians too.
There is no U-turn , unlike your Bijan allies.

DeleteI have a deep contempt for those who supported or kept quiet as a mouse on Bijan's corruption and abuse of power for 10 years, and only now coming out of the woodwork as Fearless Warriors for transparency and accountability, carping at Pakatan Harapan 7 days a week.
