Masih menjilat ludah sendiri

Malaysiakini - Wednesday polling day 'undemocratic', says Dr M (extracts):

The Wednesday polling date for the 14th general election is undemocratic and will deprive some overseas Malaysians of their right to vote, Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

He said while villagers would find no trouble in coming out to vote, the situation may be different for Malaysians working overseas who are ineligible for postal voting.

But his first general election as prime minister in 1982 was on a Thursday the 22 April.

Wasn't Mahathir then also undemocratic?

Again as PM, he followed that undemocratic action by holding his two last general elections, in 1995 and 1999, on 'undemocratic days', namely, a Monday on 25 April 1995, and another Monday on 29 Nov 1999, the last of which he won ironically with support from his most hated voters, the Cinapeks, because the Malays had then deserted him for his vicarious actions against Anwar Ibrahim.

Weren't those also 'undemocratic days'?

Surely after 3 strikes, isn't he being grossly hypocritical in sermonising on same issue.

According to BN strategic communications deputy director Eric See-To, the United States, which is "supposedly the most democratic country in the world," also held its elections on Tuesdays.

  5. But I think those election Weekdays during TDM time previously were public holidays.

Anyway, what is blatantly clear is that it is to cause the most inconvenience for voters working overseas who are not registered postal voters, outstation job workers and non-public employees who are employed in factories, farming, fishing, transportation, domestic etc.

Is that the job of an Election Commission to make it inconvenient for voters to exercise their democratic right to vote?

And also the election boundary redrawing which tends to segregate voters by race and religion for God knows what the Hell for if not to cause suspicions of gerry mendering and voting confusion.

In abusing such responsibilities enshrined in The Constitution and bestowed upon the EC, the MACC should be called upon to investigate abuse of power and corruption among the EC Commissioners before or after the GE.

A public flogging should then be held at Dataran Merdeka for those found guilty.

  6. What Ktemoc the Najib shill conveniently ignores in uncritically quoting BN's Eric See-To Goebbels is

    a) US Election dates are permanently fixed by law. So anyone who needs to make arrangements to vote knows exactly what date it is on.

    b) Most US States have freely accessible early voting arrangements up to one month in advance. Open to all ordinary citizen registered voters. So you can vote at your convenience.

  7. The reason BN is playing so extremelt dirty this time is Najib's desperation to ensure he wins, at any and all costs.

Other politicians if they lose the elections likelt go into retirement oblivion.
Najib, if he loses GE14 is very likely to end up spending a long time in jail.

  8. This dirty trick is meant

    1) To prevent/reduce the oversea (especially within a day trip distance) voters to vote in ge14! Most of these voters would vote against bn.

    2) to cap the turnout rate of the voters. Low voting rate is to bn's advantages as in

    A) can easily manipulating the casted votes numeric

    B) lower turnout always favour the incumbent as he/she has a solid core supporters not affected by the low turnout.

Cash is indeed King when it can so easily buy mercenary bloggers, fake economic writers, ministers, division heads, those in civil employ and all those usual but useful riff raff.
