Dr Boo's struggle with DAP central leadership

One of my visitor reminded me that "Soldiers must obey the orders of a general" (not generals in the plural because command must not be confusing where General A says go left whilst General B says go right).

I agree when an organisation like the army or one of its sub-units is well organised, well trained and well equipped with clear lines of command, well defined objective, clarity of purpose and a good plan.

But when DAP told Dr Boo Cheng Hau to stand in Labis where the incumbent is MCA vice-president Chua Tee Yong (son of Chua Soi Lek) but without giving him enough time to prepare the battle grounds it's like asking him to commit suicide a la the Kamikaze squad, and at that, on unprepared grounds.

Dr Boo was reasonable to say he needs time to acquaint himself with the 'lay of the land' and prepare political programs in Labis instead of just parachuting in. And we know how unfriendly the 'locals' can be towards political 'parachutists' who are not national icons.

Thus Dr Boo said that he advised Liew Chin Tong not to waste time persuading him as he (Dr Boo) will not contest in an area where he did not service before just for the sake of contesting. In other words, Dr Boo believes he must do work in Labis in order to justify his offer to represent the people in Labis in Parliament. He isn't a roving opportunistic politician.

(left) Liew Chin Tong, (right) Dr Boo Cheng Hau

But really, we need to ask, what is DAP's purpose in adamantly insisting on standing Dr Boo in Labis when he is needed in Skudai as proven by the Gelang Patah parliamentary liaison committee passing two resolutions to retain him and Lim Kit Siang for the Gelang Patah parliamentary constituency.

Boo said the DAP central leadership should have respected the Gelang Patah division's decision when the latter has endorsed for the representative status quo to be maintained in the parliamentary seat of Gelang Patah and state seat of Skudai.

Skudai is one of two state constituencies which fall under the parliamentary constituency of Gelang Patah (the other being Nusa Jaya).

Why must DAP insist on removing him from Skudai? Why not promote him upwards in Gelang Patah, and let clever brilliant LKS stand in Labis since he is a national icon?

that's why I am a national icon, I've been raising the above issues for 30 years but I've now forgotten about them

Dr Boo also informed us that branches in states are allowed to nominate candidates for the election before the party’s leadership decides and which the Gelang Patah branch has done, but this time, alas, this convention was 'bypassed' for some 'unknown' reason.

Dr Boo said, “If the leadership disagrees with their (branches') resolutions, then they should meet them.”

But obviously HQs chooses not to, instead it continues to push Dr Boo towards Labis.

For some strange reason, Labis seems to be avoided like the plague by DAP front people, despite incumbent Chua Tee Yong beating DAP's Ramakrishan Suppiah in 2013 by only a razor thin majority of 353 votes.

It's been reported that DAP's Johor strategy was to pitch their big names against counterparts from MCA and Gerakan or what DAP leaders termed a contest of “king fight king”.

Chua Tee Yong and father Chua Soi Lek

But one of the big names, sweetie Teo Nie Ching, who in fact was the very DAP person who raised the battle cry to wei jiao (annihilate) the MCA has herself backed away from taking on Chua Tee Yong in Labis. She prefers to remain in Kulai which she won by more than 13,000 votes in 2013.

T'was also reported that another DAP biggie, Gobind Singh Deo, the son of the late Karpal Singh, was also asked to consider Labis but after he had suss-ed out that Johor constituency, decided against it, preferring like sweetie Teo to remain in his current constituency of Puchong.

So HQs' finger swivels around and points at Dr Boo after the party biggies have decided to avoid Labis.

It so happened Dr Boo hasn't been exactly in the good book of the DAP 'inner coteri' and he suspects there were 'ulterior motives' in HQs' move to send him to Labis but alas, declined to elaborate to satiate our burning curiosity.

By the by, the Hell-Hounds have already started their mauling of Dr Boo on interactive meduia forums, with remarks like 'Another tan seng giaw in the making' though I'm confused on its moronic analogy when Dr Tan Seng Giaw was not even given a chance to contest.

I suggest since the DAP wishes to 'promote' Dr Boo up to federal parliamentary level, to give Dr Boo the opportunity to contest in Gelang Patah (where he can continue to embrace his beloved Skudai), and to assign courageous Lim Kit Siang to Labis.

That will be a win-win situation, and sweetie Teo Nie Ching can continue to contest in Kulai whilst Gobind stays put in Puchong.

Goodness gracious me, it's a win-win-win-win situation.

  1. When a General directs his lower Commanders and foot soldiers to a Kamikazi mission knowing full well its a big sacrifice needed to a bigger battle, all the Commander should do is just follow orders strictly and:

    1. Encourage and raise the men's morale for the suicide mission and be hailed a dead Hero or

    2. Think of how to overcome the odds and fight a good battle against a far superior enemy in their homeground.

He chose to demoralise his soldiers instead in his own homeground by questioning The General Orders and asking why other Commanders should not be sent but him instead.

That's insubordination to his General and Higher Commanders and be prepared to have his head chopped off.

Isn't it also foolish and stupid when one forgets what level one is, in the overall chain of command?

Dying a Hero in battle or with perhaps a miraculous or divine victory over the enemy is much better than sure to die by getting the head chopped even before the battle begins.

He ain't the stuff of leaders of men.

    1. Dr Boo did NOT ask why other Commanders should not be sent

    2. Thats where Dr Boo was mistaken in his fear. He should have faith in the zombification of the Chinese populace there, that will even vote a Banana tree wearing Superman Tshirt and Rocket (oops, Eye of Sauron) underwear. He should've trusted his Dear Leader unless LKS wanted him to die there (wakakaka!). If his Melaka mari-via-Penang Dear Leader can parachute into Gelang Patah and win a crushing victory, surely a local like Dr Boo with zombie army support can achieve sweet victory. I find his lack of faith... disturbing.

    1. He's a wordsmith that can pusing and terbalik to any position...first it is imperative to toe the line and he will quote chapter and verse about his various uncles in the military on the very important matter of insubordination bla bla bla.

Now that his kpi, and therefore his dedak, is at stake, all his uncles cakap cakap lectures all thrown out the window. Trust this wordsmith to churn round and round one moment it's black to white and then back again to white to black. Only his choir boy who's so deep into the religious PAS-ing farts would be hohohoho-ing at every of his new master's terbalik positioning

    2. if Dr Boo had been chosen from the word 'go' then that would have been the right thing to do, but after two biggies refused to go, only then was Dr Boo approached at the last moment to go to Labis without any form of preparation

has that been the style of the new DAP?

  4. One more point! Why Boo doesn't wanna take up the challenge to tui Lam Chua Tee Yong?

    1. why wasn't he advised earlier so he could prepare for the battle? It was after other bigges did not accept the jib that it was then foisted onto to him.

    2. So you see he wasn't being planned earlier to be sacrificed right! He is a local with quite a reputation, has been in Johore politics longer than any other known DAP leaders (someone of a certain standing) in fact would be the best choice to take up the challenge. He choose not to accept the appointment as a Johore DAP EXCO so he didn't have first hand information on DAP plan and unfortunately only being informed now. But I do like your proposal of the win-win-win-win situation. Wakakaka...............

  5. Let's deal with the issue one at a time lah.

Military/party disciplines SHOULD be the same - don't twist it!

"But when DAP told Dr Boo Cheng Hau to stand in Labis ……… but without giving him enough time to prepare the battle grounds it's like asking him to commit suicide a la the Kamikaze squad, and at that, on unprepared grounds."

Isn't it the SAME thing when a general is been tasked to commission a new frontline?

How many times, is the general been given AMPLE time to study, review & plan before been asked to go to that battle field?

A general is selected based on his past battlefields experiences, known cunning strategic plannings & most of all, the gut feeling of doing manoeuvrings that others COULDN'T anticipated. The later is usually a gift of nature - no amount of trainings/field experiences CAN produce such personnel!

Thus, the general IS been prepared for his whole life for ANY military challenges.

Ditto with ANY politikus worth his/her salts.

Not familiar with new ground & people?

    Bull lah.

The new electorate might look at the person superficially. But if he carries past 'accolades' built over the yrs from other constituencies, the electorate would pay attention.

That's personal charisma that runs before actual performances!

So that unfamiliarity excuse IS the lamest for not going to a new constituent.

Party disciplines dictate that one goes when the top dog commands -military &/or political party. Period.

  6. I still don't see what is the great sin of Lim Kit Siang and the DAP leadership overall to be the target of Ktemoc's condemnation.
You cannot equate this case to Tan Seng Giaw's.

In any organisation, there will be those who are given the "posh" assignments and the "dog-house" assignments. The criteria of assignment may be objective, and may be subjective.

So...Boo was not in the best standing in DAP, and he was given a less-than choice assignment. That is the reality in any human organisation.

It wasn't like Boo was simply dumped.

His request to have more time to prepare is a reasonable one, but the fact is the entire election time-line is a compressed one.

The DAP leadership request for him to contest in Labis is a reasonable one, and his flat refusal to contest there amounted to insubordination.

If he ends up simply not being selected at a candidate at all, he has nobody else to blame.

  7. Dr. Boo is already history. if ever he returns and finally takes up the challenge, he is a targeted Trojan Horse by the enemies.

Win or lose does not matter anymore cos there is always the fear now of "You too, Et Brutus"

  8. It's indeed for some strange reason, Labis seems to be avoided like the plague by DAP front people, despite incumbent Chua Tee Yong beating DAP's Ramakrishan Suppiah in 2013 by only a razor thin majority of 353 votes.

Perhaps, DAP has done the survey & the maths around Labis.

In 2013 the incumbent Chua Tee Yong beating DAP's Ramakrishan Suppiah by a razor thin majority of 353 votes.

That's was also the time of 'apa Cina may tsunami.

If Chua junior could survived then, most likely it CAN survive NOW. Besides, Chau senior can pull a lots of punch in Lagos, a mca strong fort.

Asking other DAP biggie, like Teo Nie Ching, Gobind Singh Deo or Lim Kit Siang to contest in a known DAP black is a risk that's counter-productive. These personnel r best deployed to consolidate the winning bases of the frontline DAP johore challenge.

Pitching Dr Boo Cheng Hau with Chua junior at Labis has merit too.

Dr Boo is a well-known Johore DAP steward, who carries enough weight to overcome the strong obstacle of Johorean/Labisan sentiment that parachuted candidates lack.

Of course, this is the risk that Dr Boo refuses to take, unlike his safety net of Skudai. Moreover, judging from Dr Booze comments, he likes to be a koi in a small pond (state assembly) than a dragon in the open sky (Parliament).

Lks could have swapped with Dr Boo. But is Dr Boo willing? Besides, ge14 is Lim seniors last fight. A retirement with a win is an added accolade. But, with Labis, whether lks can pull a rabbit vis-a-vis Lee San Choon at Seremban 1982 is highly unknown.

  9. "Another tan seng giaw in the making'" means someone who is focused on criticising DAP specifically and Pakatan in general, while remaining silent on UMNO and Najib, even defending them.

Tan Seng Giaw has been like that for quite some time now, which is why he has forfeited his suitability to continue to represent Kepong as a DAP MP.

Perhaps he will find Gerakan better aligned with his evolving views.

  10. Kamikaze was a uniquely Japanese invention which grew out of Japanese culture.

However, in the desperate struggles of World War II, all combatant militaries along the way ordered their troops to carry out missions where their chances of surviving the mission ranged from slim to nearly non-existent.

USAF Bomber crews over Germany suffered up to 60 % Killed on some missions. They still went out on their flights every morning.
The overall KIA Killed in Action rate for US Bomber crews was 45%

The German U-Boat service suffered 80% killed out of the total of all who served....
