Anwar back to the front?

MM Online - Anwar: Pakatan will repeal ‘fake news’ law (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 ― Pakatan Harapan (PH) will set up an independent election commission and abolish any legislation against “fake news”, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

The PKR de facto leader expressed disgust at the Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s actions in bulldozing through the Election Commission’s (EC) redelineation report that was debated for only two hours in Parliament.

“This is not a proper and lawful redelineation exercise, but a blatant and unconstitutional act of gerrymandering,” Anwar said in a statement.

I find it significant that Anwar has now come out to make campaign statements. Perhaps Pakatan has assessed Mahathir has not been very effective in his messages.

For a start, Anwar is more believable and carry less baggage than Mahathir. Then the former PM has an embarrassing performance of now backtracking on all his previous PM policies - who the f**k will believe Mr Belakang Pusing?

  1. Many have underestimated Mahathir in the past. For the victims still around, just ask them if they still feel the pain after 2 or 3 decades later.

Without Mahathir,Najib's Umno/BN will have an easier defeating the PH.Mahathir is the wildcard this time around.Nobody is sure whether the Felda Malays will U-turn on Umno this time around. If Mahathir can hit the message of Najib's chosen,Isa Samad stealing billions from Felda, into the heads of the settlers, the coming GE is a 50-50 and can go either way.

At least this time around, the PH will surely win more parliamentary seats in Sabah. If the opposition can win more seats in Sabah and Sarawak, and with the additional seats from around the Felda constituencies the PH might just pull it off.

The GE will be called soon.Maybe within the next few days or weeks. In the next month or so we will for sure know which government we will have for the next 50 years, because whoever wins will have the incumbent power to start gerry meandering again.

  2. Coming from someone who still yet to show proof of 40,000 Bangla voters, I would say Anwar has a very valid reason why the anti-fake news law must be abolished.

In other news, 'Germany starts enforcing hate speech law - BBC News' (http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-42510868).
50 million Euros is no joke when compared to Rm 500k.

    1. german did it is sort of introspection, not really sure why we want to do it here. bec of 1mdb?

    2. Germany did it becoz they can see how destructive is of fake news influence. It brought an ill-suited person into the chair of the world's most powerful nation (though I have my reservations of Hillary), it tore out one of the founding members of EU.
And if it can have such devastating power onto mature democracies like USA and EU, what more can puny Malaysia do against such power unless following these mature democracies and enacting anti-fake news laws? Nothing to do with 1mdb.

    3. Germany's laws are intended to suppress those who seek to promote the revival of an ugly period of wrong-doing of Their country's past.

Malaysia's laws are intended for exactly the opposite purposes...to protect wrong doers from public scrutiny...as long as they are aligned to the Ruling Regime.

    4. What you have is an allegation. Nobody knows what the future is. Germany has plenty of laws to use against the revival of their dark past yet they still see fit to implement anti-fake news laws. Fake news is more than just Nazi revival or whitesupremacism.

We have seen how fake news can affect the direction of the world, we have even seen how it influenced the last election here. If it can affect the Western democracies it CAN affect Malaysia and we must be prepared for it. Those who purvey fake news, must be held accountable. In less politically correct times, fake news will be denounced as outright lies spewed by charlatans.

    5. wrt fake news not from govt, we can always educate ourselves via various news outlet, as long as there is free flow of information. for eg, i can easily tell raja liar n lss r liar n faker by reading their article.

however i have no idea what can we do if government is one that manufacturing or conceal fake news. can u enlighten us how tis bill could achieve that? n be more specific how fake news influence usa besides that wmd?

    8. Also I recalled there was a massacre nearly averted becoz the gunman was fed with fake news and he tried to take drastic measures with his own collection of firearms. Luckily, he came to his sense at the last minute.

  3. Changes in political boundaries are legal and constitutional as it is provided for in the Thirteenth Schedule. So, what's so earth-shaking about it, huh?

Granted that changes in political boundaries and also multicornered fights (PAS) are disadvantageous to PH, but I would expect them to be undeterred because they have an old talent yang sudah usang to lead them.

what anwar said sound reasonable to me. not really earth shaking, more like a tyranny of the majority.

    2. 'tyranny of the majority'.. yea man.. like what DAP did to PAS in Penang.

    3. Tyranny of the majority is an inescapable evil of democracy. Not everyone will agree with everything but that's what society is all about, the majority hold sway on any decisions.

Do speak for yrself about yr OWN alikeness to these zombies for been perfecting yr art of 攒牛尖角 in whatsoever form of -ism!

Tyranny of the majority as in number of seats NOT in number of votes - a bastardised form of democracy, perhaps in yr understanding?

U r indeed UNREAL, living in yr little self-propagating dystopia of make-believe!

    7. Trump won with minority numbers. Nobody said USA is living in a self-propagating dystopia of make-believe.

May won UK elections with minority numbers. Nobody said UK is living in a self-propagating dystopia of make-believe.

Merkel won with minority votes, heck no even enough to form the government. Yet nobody said Germany is living in a self-propagating dystopia of make-believe.

Are these not democracies or are you the one living in a self-propagating dystopia of make-believe?

    13. So far, none has refuted my analysis with any facts. Who is making noise now?

      Delete
    14. The obvious reason why none 'refuted' your so-called analysis is because it is just not worth the effort to even attempt to...the best is just to ignore your piss poor so-called analysis, hihihi.

    15. Normally if people see no reason to refute, they will keep quiet yet here come you people spewing insults. Those who resorts to insults have nothing to use, and realise the truth in the other party. Just like a playground argument. Pathetic.

  4. back to the article, i dun see any diff btw anwar n mahathir, just like i never perceive lks a hero, or a cm lge would debate anyone in govt as he did when he was a nobody in opposition. 2 x 5.

what we aspire to change or to improve is the system, not the person n politician. barking like a dog toward mahathir day in day out not helping at all.
