GST again, wakakaka

Alas, not many interesting news for kaytee to blog on today so I'll revisit the 'fake news' on the so-called effect of GST on prices of kembong and kerang, wakakaka.

don't f-blame me - I'm still the same ikan, un-GST-ed as ever, blame f-fake news

Yessirree, I had previously posted 'fake news' of fresh seafood (kembong and kerang) prices supposedly gone astronomical because of the evil GST, but no one, including the responsible reporter, said anything about fresh seafood being NOT subjected to GST.

Let's re-visit one 'naughty' example:

Once known as the “poor man’s fish”, the possibility that ikan kembung might become a price-controlled item is perhaps a better economic indicator for ordinary Malaysians instead of growth figures issued by the government.

The price of the humble fish in the mackerel family has been rising since the introduction of the goods and services tax (GST) in 2015.

That's right, the poor GST has been innocently blamed for the rise in a non-GST-ed item, namely fresh food including fresh fish. The rise in price could be due to a number of reasons, like goods cartel, greed of fishmonger, market forces, weather, etc, but the season is to blame GST regardless, even if no GST has been involved, wakakaka.

That 'naughty' example has been what 'fake news' is, published sometime ago presumably to invoke angry/adverse feelings against, in the above stated case, an innocent GST.

A pathetic unscrupulous pariah 'fake news' but pretty effective in rousing anger amongst kampung voters.

OK then, another one - Siti Zahara who is anaemic said she often buys cockles when the dizziness gets the best of her but has also cut down on that of late.

"The doctor advised me to eat cockles or liver (as an iron supplement) because of my anaemic condition."

Before GST, cockles cost about RM4 per kilo. Now it’s about RM10. So, I buy half a kilo. You can imagine how little that is when cooked.”

The 'fake news' aimed to show that with GST, price of kerang had leapt from RM4 to a humongous RM10.

By the by, I wonder whether there was really an anaemic 'Siti Zahara' that the reporter supposedly interviewed? Wakakaka.

That piece of 'fake news' about kerang was the most humongous piece of bullshit, depicting the difference between a so-called pre-GST-priced kerang at RM4 to presumably a post-GST-priced kerang at RM10.

Who cares if there is no GST on cockles, because such 'fake news' would be believed by the 'already converted'.

The sad thing has been the 'already converted' were considered as 'gullible guppies' by their political parties who wanted to incite them to vote for their parties.

why not NOW?  takut apa?

while as PM, didn't mahathir dislike foreigners especially orang putih interfering in Malaysian affairs?

wakakaka, but which one

Even if there is GST on on a non-GST-ed kerang, 6% of RM4 only amounts to a round figure of 25 sen. Why RM10?

So could that reporter explain her "Before GST, cockles cost about RM4 per kilo. Now it’s about RM10."

But the point has been how 'fake news' has deliberately exaggerated the impact of GST even on a non-GST-ed item, to wit, from RM4 to a staggering RM10.

The aim has been obvious, thanks Siti Zahara, hope your anaemia has now been ameliorated by the good news (not fake news) that kerang is NOT subjected to GST.

The 'fake news' could only be described as highly mischievous or even evil. Very unscrupulous lah!

But wait, for this post there's MORE, wakakaka.

Many anti-GST visitors patiently explained to me that the price increase had been a reflection of transport cost increases due to GST on petrol, which presumably add on to the overall price of kerang - but from RM4 to RM10???

Wait wait, is there a GST on Petrol? Be honest and answer this, you gullible guppies, wakakaka.

But but but you would say ... petrol prices had gone up.

True but WTF has that got to do with GST?

  1. no one is denying that the gst is one of the most effective way of collecting taxes for the gomen, no one escapes, not even the poor unless they can survive on items that are not listed, what the gomen omitted to say is, "now everyone can pay taxes"

no point arguing whether its the result of the gst that has caused the prices of things to cost more, evidence are everywhere if you care to admit, you can't explain either but you keep insisting its not because of gst, just don't brand everyone unscrupulous like umno politicians are fond of doing

  2. the msia gst could have significant impact on inflation bec most biz know this is the best time to rob the poor with valid excuse which they learn well from mo1. thats y we see a generally hike in price that is more than 6%, some even as high as 106%, thus it is not wrong to claim gst is the main cause of everything become so expensive. foreigner like u have no idea how crook made money.

    2. business cant make much money if all the variable like tax, raw material etc remain stagnant, bec consumer n customer look forward cost down all the time. n they could grasp the product costing more accurately if everything remain unchanged. any fluctuations in pricing is the best opportunity to requrst price up bec u can show a fresh or fake product costing. many manufacturer do this. u call me conjecture is due to your lack of knowledge.

    8. yes agree this post is not abt chinese n non chinese.

the so called fake news asserted price went up since the introduction of gst, but never specifically mentioned gst is the sole cause. who is the faker here wakaka.

i am just elaborate the business modus operandi, n the possibility of the hike cause by butterfly effect, unless kt could prove to us the hike has nothing to do with gst not using his simpleton logic, then i might agree with u to agree with him.

    4. Does it occurs to you that the sectors that these "interest-affected groups" work in affect almost all Malaysians ?

It goes to the heart of the issue that the negative impact of GST is pervasive throughout the economy.

Yes, we all know Najib and the government loves GST yadayada...

  5. The best documented case study in Malaysia of the cost increase consequence of GST has been with Private Hospital care. These are organisations run by professional management, with formal accounting systems, not easily dismissed as "fake news". To be sure, they had an incentive to cooperate with researchers, to tell their story why costs have gone up so much.

Hospital services in Malaysia are GST exempt. All hospital medical services, and other services related to patient care e.g. lodging and food, are GST exempt in Malaysia. Medicine under the National Essential Medicinces list are also exempt.

A simpleton's thinking would be there should be little or no hospital cost increase after GST, right ? Wrong !

Just one example. Medical diagnostics tests consume chemicals and various consumable items / spares, all of which the hospital has to pay GST. If the machine is new, they hospital would have paid GST to import and install it.

Since the hospital cannot charge GST for the medical test to the patient ....it will increase the actual price of the tests.

The same applies to the thousands of services and material which a functioning hospital has to purchase...all subject to GST.

The National Essential Medicines list is just a short list of minimum medicines.
All other medicines are subject to GST.
For patients with chronic illnesses or severe illnesses requiring costly treatments, 6% GST is a major additional burden.

Please climb out of your GST ivory tower and smell the real air outside....

    2. I chose a well documented case which YOU cannot simply dismiss as fake news.

A lot of cost increase issues exist everywhere, with GST exempt items....including Kembong and Kerang...

      Delete
    3. The kembong and kerang do increase in price, maybe not from RM3 to R10 but definitely increase a lot possibly more than 6% after GST is implemented because the cost of living of the kembong and kerang sellers have been increased tremendously! Your are just 'kiasu' lah ...... wakakaka

    4. we are talking about the effects and consequences of gst, don't pick and choose your kembung and kerang

    5. Wow....now u want to zero in on kembong and kerang ONLY ke???

Wordsmith, u r no mom lah!

If we r not talking about GST, as u r using kembong and kerang while Monsterball private hospital care, what r we talking about??

      Oooop..fake news lah!!

But even fake news need core topic. Thus back to GST, right???

Either u blog something else or STFU about GST lah!

Yr writing is getting very unethical!!!!

Apa sudah jadi sama u? Atasan demands more shit-stirrings on banalities due to the coming ge14 ke???

    6. The Fake news on kembong and kerang was published in the Malaysian Insight, a pro Pakatan news media. Kerang going from pre-GST RM4 to now RM10 is clear proof of Fake News. Likewise with the pre-GST kembong price going skyhigh now is another piece of clear evidence of blaming GST and nothing else. Now, you gullible guppies talk about butterfly effect, wakakaka, what a bunch of apologists

      Delete
    7. Forget about butterfly effect.
The GST is more like Elephant effect on all areas of cost in the economy.

Whoever tries to right-path back to dog collar is labelled out of topic. & MUST climb out of the high end of the society!!!
