DAP CEC re-elections

MM Online - Tan Kok Wai made DAP chair, Gobind deputy (extracts):

SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 — Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai was elected today the new DAP chairman and Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo his deputy in the party’s central executive committee (CEC) re-election.

The national chairman’s position has been vacant since the death of Karpal Singh in 2014.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng retained his post as secretary general for the CEC’s 2017-2020 term, while veteran Lim Kit Siang, who garnered the most votes, also retained his post as parliamentary leader for the party. Guan Eng was first elected secretary general in 2004.

The party’s five vice chairmen are Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran, Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen, Penang DAP chief Chow Kon Yeow, Sabah DAP chief Stephen Wong, and Pahang DAP chief Tengku Zulpuri Shah.

Seremban MP Anthony Loke retained his post as national organising secretary, while Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua also retained his post as national publicity secretary.

Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching has been made international secretary for the party.

Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun was elected party treasurer.

It has also been reported by another news media that members who remain as committee members are Chong Eng, Ronnie Liu, Selangor exco Teng Chang Khim, Jannie Lasimbang, John Brian, Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Woh and Selangor speaker Hannah Yeoh.

So Ronnie Liu is back in with also V Sivakumar whilst poor Ramasamy (DCM II Penang) is not. It'll be a blow for the latter as he is quite a proud man. Predictably Tan Seng Giaw is out.

There were reports of some ex DAP members making a ruckus at the early stage of the party delegate congress but other than the usual heckling, all went well despite only half the eligible delegates attending. The elections was monitored and managed by Grant Thornton an auditor firm approved by RoS.

I hope, as Guan Eng said, that with the re-election over, the party will no longer be “disturbed” by the Registrar of Societies and that it can begin preparations for the 14th general elections.

  2. No matter how much disturbances from burtuses and disgruntled members,DAP is as strong as ever.I wish PKR could be half as good.Wakakaka.

If the opposition can convinced the voters that they have a better leadership team in order, they might be able to give Najib and his merry men a run for their money.I doubt it though.

  3. I'm sure some other deficiency will be found in the DAP election process by ROS.... setting the stage for denial of their right to participate in HE 14.
And DAP seems to be prone to such defects... wakakka...especially this time where DAP made it clear they are doing this unwillingly.
