Bisa Diatur Pak Zahid?

Years ago, in 1997/8, Ahmad Zahid was Anwar Ibrahim's junior, in fact his UMNO Youth Chief. Anwar then DPM was said to have send Zahid as a 'commando' (vanguard, wakakaka) to kacau Mahathir in an attempt to push the old PM into expeditious retirement by accusing the then-PM of cronyism and nepotism.

once mentor and mentee

But you know the story - Mahathir turned the table on them, and we saw Anwar expelled from UMNO while Zahid the survivalist 'repented' and sucked up to Mahathir, who liked (still does) sucking up to.

Zahid had stroked the fire by then claiming he was set to by Anwar and even brazenly claimed Mahathir as his 'father', something which Mahathir liked, wakakaka, and with that, Anwar's and Zahid's respective fortunes changed.

Zahid is now the DPM whilst Anwar is in the Opposition, as putative leader though currently overshadowed by Mahathir. I doubt Mahathir would ever accept Anwar as his successor. Mahathir not only dislikes Anwar very much because of the latter's hasty treachery back in 1998, but also of his likely obstacle to Mukhriz's ascendancy.

Just a couple of days ago Najib and wife paid a visit to Anwar in hospital where the latter is still recovering from his recent shoulder ops. That visit which set Malaysian Twitter a tweetering saw an almost immediate followup visit by Zahid and wife.

Zahid claimed the 2 respective visits were purely on compassionate grounds.

What gives?

Was it on compassionate grounds? I doubt it.

Or was there a political 'bisa diatur pak' with Anwar and his family, considering Zahid's ancestors came from Java, wakakaka.

In politics one can never tell, with the most obscene example being the dalliance or alliance between Mahathir and Lim Kit Siang.

Some DAP members (eg. Teh Yee Cheu, and probably the children of the late Karpal Singh and more) have been repulsed, nay, outraged by DAP playing footsie tootsie with Mahathir and his racist Pribumi.

Word has it that Gobind Deo's humongous victory at the recent DAP CEC re-elections where even the late Karpal Singh still earned 43 votes has been a subtle warning by that faction to Lim Kit Siang.

Yes, Lim KS might have garnered the highest number of votes at the re-election but Gobind Deo was unusually and unexpectedly just one vote behind him so the factions could be nicely balanced at this stage. If the late Karpal was still around he would have sneered at his old compatriot and told him to 'bertaubat'.

Between Najib the incumbent PM and Mahathir the former, who do you think will win Anwar's political heart?

That 'bisa diarur pak' might well be in the bubbling bubur cha-cha, wakakaka.

  6. Wheels within wheels...
Anwar & family would dearly want to have him released early...and all roads go through Najib.

Zahid may well be doing his own freelance dealing for his own benefit....

At the same time Anwar knows full well Najib's machinations got him in jail in the first place.

Najib is in a tougher spot facing GE14 than most people realise...and he desperately needs to outflank Mahathir....by making deals with Anwar..
