Tahfiz school fire No 3

MM Online - Tahfiz school fire:

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — Twelve people escaped without injury today after a fire incident at a tahfiz school in Seksyen 32, Shah Alam.

Star Online reported a spokesman from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department saying they were alerted to the incident at the Tahfiz Al-Quran Bidayatul Hidayah at 12.37am.

He reported there were 11 male students and a warden in the room where the wardrobe caught fire and that the occupants managed to put out the fire before firemen arrived at the scene.

The spokesman added that the student were relocated to a nearby surau.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Another one?!

This is terrifying but thank God no one was hurt.

Is there a Divine message somewhere in the recent series of tahfiz fires?

Nonetheless, let's hope the recent blitzkrieg by the Fire Department in checking hundreds of tahfiz schools for fire compliance will continue at regular and periodic intervals, and not just a case of hangat2 tahi ayam.

where's the bloody loo?

  1. There is a broader question on the Tahfiz and other independent Islamist schools, beyond the tragedies.

How many pupils are studying in such schools, outside of mainstream curriculums ?
What do these schools teach ? Only Islamic knowledge ?
What social values to they teach ?
What attitudes do the pupils leave these schools with, especially towards the more than 40% of the country which is Non-Muslim ?
What skills are they equipped with to contribute to society and the economy ?

The one time I brought this subject up with a Malay acquaintance, he said "Chinese have their Chinese Independent Schools, which the government has allowed to continue operating for decades, the Muslims have their independent Islamic schools - leave them alone" .
    End of discussion.

    But my doubts still remain.

    3. Mahathir was actually right in the past, before he turned into a pathetic DAP groveler in desperation.

If the Chinese insist on their Independent Vernacular schools, they cannot begrudge the Muslims having their independent religious education.

The alternative is that the whole deal falls apart.

Then , You cannot have your independent vernacular schools.

    4. Fine!!!

Then treating both equally w/o fail. Either both get the same treatment OR both get nothing. Then see WHO survives lah.

      Bolih Tak?

Right now, the 'indepedent' tahfiz schools r a class of their own, betul Tak?

Iff the 'independent' tahfiz schools r ran/operated/managed like the independent vernacular schools, u WOULDNT get zombies/good-for-nothing ulamaks/deliquescent tongkat seekers le.
