Clash of civilisations (2)

Rohingyas! Muslims NGOs in Malaysia are furious that the Buddhist Myanmar-ese are oppressing their Muslim brethren. The Muslim NGOs call for (in worst case scenario) the settlement of the Rohingyas in Malaysia.

Sri Lankan Tamils! The Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora and even other Tamils (from Mainland India and Malaysia) are furious at the Sinhalese oppression of their kinfolks. They call for the West (but surprisingly, not India) to accept Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in the sanctuaries of Western countries.

Malaysian Muslim NGOs were deafeningly silent or apathetic to the plight of Sri Lankan Tamils. Yet now they're screaming blue murder about the Muslim Rohingyas. What hypocrites.

Sri Lankan Tamil refugees

But nonetheless it showed that agama dan bangsa play very important and emotional bonds for people to help.

Vietnamese refugees? Silence from those Muslim NGOs in Malaysia.

Someone high up in Malaysia even wanted to tow those rickety refugee boats back into the high seas away from Malaysia or shoot them. There were stories of those refugees being treated badly when they landed on Malaysian shores.

Only the West took in those refugees - chiefly in USA and Australia but several other Western nations had also accepted Vietnamese refugees.

Vietnamese refugees

Arab refugees? Only the West, in particular Germany accepted those refugees. What about those rich Arab countries?

It seems that the West have more humane people, perhaps based on their Christian upbringing and their culture, even Australia bush-culture.

I hate to say this as a proud Asian, but it is evident that Western civilisation, agama dan kebudayaan are definitely far superior to those in the East like in Malaysia, Singapore, India, etc.

  3. Wakakakaka....

So, u hate to say this as a proud Asian, but it is evident that Western civilisation, agama dan kebudayaan are definitely far superior to those in the East like in Malaysia, Singapore, India, etc.

There is a thriving coastal village of a few thousands ex-Vietnamese boat people residing on the province of Kwangsi on mainland China. They were accepted during the boat exodus.

The Jap had also accepted a few hundreds of ex-Vietnamese boat people during the high of the boat exodus incident. Many of these were housed & educated & subsequently migrated to other Western countries.

These countries did it despite the sopo conditions that they were facing.

Thus, when u called yrself Asian, perhaps u need to give more details le.

Many Asian countries, especially the Confucianism-linked cultures, like to do thing QUIETLY. It's the tradition cultivated in the mind, unlike the boastful Western bleeding hearts approaches.

    2. Can u read?

What's my point & yrs, can distinguish ke?

Or u just shoot blindly to syiok yr ego!

I venture to guess that by 'the host' u actually meant the 'refugees'! Then australia or china becomes their picking lots eh!

If these refugees can have choices, then they r no refugees BUT economic migrants trying to take advantages of a tradegy!

Refugees have brain too, but w/o life, the brain is only a lump of death tissues!

  4. The many Malaysian Chinese who are apparently totally indifferent to the suffering of the Rohingyas should realise that could have been the similar fate of Malaysian Chinese after Merdeka, if not for the generosity of the Malays.

The Rohingyas were economic migrants in Arakan (Rakhine), just as Chinese in Malaya.
They came on their own accord, just as Chinese in Malaya.
At the point of Burma's independence, Rohingyas had no right of Burmese citizenship, just as the majority of Chinese in Malaya.
Some took up armed rebellion against the Burmese state, just as many Chinese did so in Malaya.

The difference has been the Burmese authorities refusal to grant Rohingyas citizenship rights, while the Malays generously agreed to Chinese in Malaya becoming full citizens.

In reacting to the Rohingya revolt, the Burmese authorities chose to treat the entire Rohingya population as undesirable aliens, while the Malays agred to take in the majority of Chinese , as long as they pledged loyalty to the Federation.

The Chinese should reflect,....."there but for the grace of God goes our fate....".

The Chinese should support the campaign to protect the Rohingya's human rights.

    1. You have entertained many errors of understanding in our history.

You have been incorrect to say Chinese have no right to citizenship at the dawn of our national history - I won't bother to educate you but please read up and understand without Chinese and Indians agreeing to the pact for independence there would have been no Merdeka. The citizenship for all was a quid pro quo for Independence.

When you said "many Chinese did so in Malaya" vis-a-vis the communist insurgency that's not correct - it was only the CPM, a relatively small group in relation to the larger Chinese community, who took up arms to fight firstly against the colonial Brits and then the malaysan government - the CPM had Malay and indian members as well. And most important of all, it was the Chinese in the SB who won the war for Malaya. Check on how many SP was awarded by Agong to Chinese

There is no necessity for Chinese to support a terrorist organization like the Rohingyas just as we did not support the CPM.

Prof Khoo said recently many malaysians do not remember our history - you appear to be one of them, wakakaka

    2. U banyak pandai in creating history in yr ketuanan way le!!!

Let me gives u a paradox to trouble yr btn-induced siege-mentality.

      1) Rohingya were recruited by the Pommie to fight the Rakhine/Bamar who sided with the Jap during the WWII.

The CPM worked with the Pommie to fight the Jap, whom the Melayu elited supported, during WWII.

So, mana u punya analogy ke?

      2) At the point of Burma's independence, Rohingyas had no right of Burmese citizenship, bcoz the Pommie never treated them as citizen of Burma, thus never negotiated the right of citizenship on their behalf.

Before the independence of Malaya, the Pommie had made it VERY clear that no citizenship for the Chinese/Indian, there would be no independence of Malaya. The Pommie had considered the Chinese/Indian citizen of British Malaya.

So apa tu - 'Malays generously agreed to Chinese in Malaya becoming full citizens.'

The Melayu were just token puppets of the Pommie then! Siapa tu bagi generosity dan mana tu power to give citizenship le?

      3) ketuanan freaks like u SHOULD reflect,....."there but for the grace of God goes our fate....".

Without the blood, sweat & tear of the Chinese/Indian in helping to develop Malaya, all of u WOULD most properly still me-layu as Pommie pariahs.
