Why Malaysians are fixated on race & religion

FMT - Voters fixated on race, religion issues, says Ideas (extracts):

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian voters do not care about policies, however good, presented by opposition candidates because they are fixated on issues of race and religion, said the Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas).

“People are stuck on these issues and will not care if candidates have a better grasp of more important issues,” said Wan Saiful Wan Jan, the think tank’s CEO, to FMT.

Of course they would be, considering much effort on racist ketuanan indoctrination has been expended by the Biro Tatanegara, the brainchild of Mahathir.

Paid by taxpayers' money, including those of non-Malays.

This is what Wikipedia has to say:

The National Civics Bureau (Malay: Biro Tatanegara), abbreviated BTN, is an agency of the Malaysian government in the Prime Minister's Department. It was established in 1974 as the Youth Research Unit (Unit Penyelidikan Belia) under the Youth Ministry, but was renamed and transferred in 1981.

BTN's stated objective is to nurture the spirit of patriotism and commitment to excellence among Malaysians, and train leaders and future leaders to support the nation's development efforts.

BTN's programmes are controversial, and many accuse them of explicitly promoting ketuanan Melayu and the governing Barisan Nasional.[2][3][4] On 25 November 2009, the Selangor state government issued a ban prohibiting state civil servants, employees of state subsidiaries, and students at state-owned institutions from attending BTN courses.

On 2 December 2009, the Penang state government followed suit and banned all state civil servants from attending the controversial courses.

Although BTN has been the subject of various allegations over the years, in late 2009, it became the subject of greater controversy, when many allegations of racism and political propaganda appeared in quick succession.

One BTN alumnus claimed that he was "taught a song with lyrics like 'the land that you walk upon is owned by others'.

Lecturers told us the Malays were forced to depend on the Chinese for support after 1998 because some Malays had betrayed their own race," in reference to Malays voting against the Barisan Nasional in 1999 general election.

Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, another alumnus and assemblyman for Seri Setia in the State Legislative Assembly of Selangor, claimed that the BTN camp he attended was "racial and political in nature," with trainers telling attendees that Malays require affirmative action and criticising the opposition Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS) as "deviationist".

Amirudin Shari, assemblyman for Batu Caves, claimed that "participants are indoctrinated with propaganda about 'Ketuanan Melayu' and external threats".

Another alumnus claims he was taught that the Chinese were "the Jews of Asia," and part of a conspiracy to topple the government.

Another alumnus alleged she was "told that the Malays were the most supreme race in the world, we were God's chosen few, that the others were insignificant. We were warned about certain elements in our society and abroad, determined to undermine Malay excellence."

Yes, indeed, all thanks to Mahathir Mohamad.

  3. Yr continuation of 就人论事 makes clear a few things.

    1) Mamak's untiring challenges against ahjibgor MUST have created a threatening impact to jibby's mind grip on the Joe Melayu's sopo awareness.

The Melayu fortress is shaking at it's foundation as in 1999.

So much so, that paid provocateurs r now reminded to stir up mamak's past deeds on the Nons.

A hopefully repeat of a page, as in Juo-Yu Lin's writing for The Brookings Institution in a paper titled 'A Structural Analysis of the 1999 Malaysian General Election'.

Melayu votes r splitting, thus MUST frighten &/or sweetened (conned) the Nons' thinking, especially the CinaBeng's, to vote bn in order to win the coming erection.

    2) A repeating of his father's China card, like establishing more large scale business contacts with China, to entice the ancestry ego of the CinaBeng.

    3) Meanwhile must also slow stroking the ketuanan mentality of the die-hard supporters, like reworking the Bandar M'sia deal to be wholely M'sia owned NOW, with a master developer who ONLY builts & operates.

    4) Secretly forming a pact with hadi, by giving political concessions in favour of pas's theocratic policies, as in RUU 355.

A possible solution is for pas to join in for a multiple corner fight in an electrola to split as much votes as possible from the opposition in a constituency.

    Wakakakaka...Homo proponit, sed Deus disponit!!!
