ALOR STAR, Aug 15 — Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir had dreams of becoming prime minister via the ‘fast track’ way, alleged his former special political officer, Haris Che Mat.
Haris, who is also Kedah Umno’s former executive secretary, claimed the former Kedah menteri besar had the support of his father, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who wanted to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to pave the way for his son.
He said the plan began during the Umno elections in 2013 when Mukhriz contested for the post of Umno vice-president.
“I was part of the machinery for Mukhriz’s campaign for the post of Umno vice-president in 2013. Many of us thought it was better for him to contest for a Supreme Council seat as he lost in the bid for Youth Chief in 2009,” he told a press conference in Pokok Sena, about 20km from here today.
“When Mukhriz lost in the contest for vice-president, they blamed the prime minister (Najib),” said Haris.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised as I've always thought it has been the father who pushed dear boy (unwillingly) into the game. Mahathir better hurried up as he's running out of time.

ReplyDeleteIn Malaysian political circles , "Special Officers" are usually hired from those of unspecified skills and qualifications, who are tasked to carry out political missions for a Senior Politician. Due to the nature of these "Duties" they are often men of uncertain character.....like the guy who "fixed" the Anwar Sodomy case for Najis...he has dozens of such Special Officers...
Interestingly, Pakatan leaders like Azmin Ali and Lim Guan Eng now also have their coterie of taxpayer-funded Special Officers...I can only wonder at what are their duties...
You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel to highlight the rantings of a former Special Officer out to earn some Dedak...
