Hello (again), Heretic Head-kicking Harbinger

Re-publishing a very old post, now that Nazri Aziz is back in Malaysia, advocating for Anwar Ibrahim, wakakaka.

~~~
According to the dictionary, the word 'heretic' means 'a professed believer who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church or rejects doctrines prescribed by that church'.
For example, Yehoshua ben Yosef was a heretic to Judaism because he promoted a new version of Judaism - in other words he bucked the old established religion and its practice, directly affecting the Judean priesthood. Hope you know who Yehoshua ben Yosef was? He was the poor bloke who was crucified between two thieves on 07 April 30 AD.
As Eastern Europeans (Orthodox Church) see Yehoshua ben Yosef
As Western Europeans (Catholic & Protestant Churches) see Yehoshua ben Yosef
As Chinese Churches see Yehoshua ben Yosef
BBC commissioned a forensic reconstruction of how Yehoshua ben Yosef from that region might have looked
Far far earlier, around 1350 BCE, Pharaoh Akhenaten (known previously as Amenhotep IV before he changed his name to honour his new god, Aten) was known as the Heretic Pharaoh because he introduced monotheism to the Egyptian people, way before the world had even heard of Judaism and Yahweh. He was probably the founder of monotheism, where his one sole God was Aten.
Maybe it's time again to remind you of my earlier post Why 'God' loved Isaac more than Ishmael in which I had written:
Deuteronomy 23:7-8 read:
You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land; the children of the third generation born to them may enter the congregation of the Lord.
The Edomites I can understand, but why this special treatment for their so-called mortal enemies, the Egyptians, those oppressors who supposedly kept the Hebrews in bondage for 430 years, and required a series of terrifying divine-sent plagues to intimidate the Pharaoh before he released them from slavery.
Indeed why?
But never mind wakakaka, if you want more biblical mysteries, read my post Why 'God' loved Isaac more than Ishmael.
Let's get back on track about the Heretic Pharaoh. Now, many of you may ask why was a man who introduced the One Almighty God deem a heretic? Shouldn't it be the other way around, that a person who promoted polytheism be the heretic?
Let's re-examine the definition of 'heresy' above to see why Akhenaten was labelled the Heretic Pharaoh.
Ancient Egypt was a land where its religious belief was polytheistic, thus when a Pharaoh declared that only Aten could be worshipped as the One True God and a la DBKL 😡😡😡 went about defacing images of ancient Egyptian deities such as Osiris, Isis, Horus, Anubis, Hathor, Ma'at, Seth, Thoth, Sekhmet, Nun, etc, basically stating that polytheism was not acceptable and monotheism was in, he became 'a professed believer who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church or rejects doctrines prescribed by that church', to wit, a heretic.
Indeed as a heretic but one with the power of a ruler, he was so detested that when he died, his name was completely erased from the land and only accidentally discovered among some bricks of a ruin in the 19th Century, almost 3400 years later.
I wonder whether Malaysia's greatest intellectual Kassim Ahmad would be considered as a heretic for saying stuff which diminishes the importance and roles of the priesthood caste, like what Yehoshua ben Yosef did to the Sanhedrin and temple authorities of Judea?
The moral seems to be to NEVER threaten the rice bowls of the priesthood castes, wakakaka.
But this post is not about religions (well, not religions pertaining to spiritual beliefs anyway, wakakaka). Apart from being t'ng k'ooi (chong hei, or in Indon, bertele-tele), I use it as an introduction to (hopefully) capture your attention on the term 'heretic', as in the title of this post 'Heretic Head-kicking Harbinger', wakakaka.
Let's move on next to 'head-kicking' or its doer, the 'head-kicker', wakakaka.
I'm sure most if not all of us know who a former menteri in a former PM's Department, Mohd Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, was.
He was known perhaps notoriously as the PM's hatchet man. I used to call him the PM’s chief head kicker (during AAB’s reign). Nazri was like a Transformer unleashed when he attacked Dr Mahathir. He did his political-bouncer act again to protect Najib and the PM’s 1Malaysia. Even Sakmongkol (once Dr Mahathir’s supporter) grudgingly conceded his admiration for Nazri’s head kicking style,
Though Nazri has been and still is an UMNO-ite I have to confess I've a soft spot for him. I know at times he can be and indeed had been unpalatable or even detestable (eg. calling Dr Pornthip Rojanasunan a liar; sneering at Karpal Singh's wheelchair-bound disadvantage, etc), but still, I would say he has been among the better of UMNO ministers.
INTERVIEW | Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz is openly proud of his “gangster” reputation, which he earned from his straight-talking ways, and says he takes a no-holds-barred approach towards any critic of BN.
At the same time, the Umno supreme council member said in an interview with Malaysiakini, he has no reservations about the moments caught on camera that he shared with at least one prominent opposition leader in the north.
“It’s not romantic at all, it’s democratic… I am straight,” Nazri said, with a laugh, to questions on photographs of him hugging and holding hands with Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng during various events in the state that have been posted on social media.
Okay, he was dogged by scandals surrounding his son. Though the Lord informed us through Exodus 34:7 ...
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
... let's not allow the sins of the son to visit upon the father or indeed the granddad and great granddad, wakakaka.
Were you aware that Nazri was the UMNO minister who in 2010 wrote to Utusan Malaysia to shoot down Awang Selamat with his (Nazri's) declaration: “And yes I am a Malaysian first and Malay next. Does any bigot have a problem with that?”
I wonder whether Nazri had also intended a none too subtle message for Dr Mahathir and DPM Muhyiddin, the latter had said he's 'a Malay first and then only a Malaysian'.
At that point in time, Dr Mahathir was unhappy with Najib's 1Malaysia, because as I suspect, he couldn't bear the thought that under Najib's 1Malaysia administration, 'O Horror of Horrors', the Malays might no longer be the masters, the tuan of their ancestral land. For him, 0.35Malaysia was acceptable provided 0.65Malaysia was flourishing well ahead and absolutely leading the nation and all its bureaucracies. Yes, during his 22-year term as PM he had ensured that, even unto tolerating those little Napoleons exceeding the boundaries of his policies, and corrupting the implementation of most.
Muhyiddin was then perceived as evasively tap-dancing in his support of the PM’s policy of 1Malaysia, and more aligned with Dr Mahathir, the patron Saint of Perkasa. Hence Nazri's "I am a Malaysian first and Malay next. Does any bigot have a problem with that?” could be considered a slap in Muhyiddin's face and a strong condemnation of Dr Mahathir's criticism of Najib's 1Malaysia.
There’s also a conscionable decent side to Nazri in being against capital punishment when most in his party support the death sentence. Now, hadn't he been a regular (UMNO) heretic? Wakakaka.
A wee digression - I can never fathom the mentality of educated people who supports state murder ... yup, because that’s what capital punishment is, murder sanctified by man-made laws. This is where Asians (e.g. China, Singapore, Malaysia, and even Buddhist Thailand) and some states in the USA are zillions of civilised miles behind (western) Europe, Australia and Kiwi-land.
Then at a time (2009, yes 16 years ago) when Eli Wong of PKR was running through a rough patch because of an unconscionable, unethical and unscrupulous bastard, Nazri had actually stood up to console and support Eli while the weaselling spineless PKR leadership was vacillating and thinking of abandoning her. Even MCA’s Chew Mei Fun spoke up for Eli.
Eli Wong
Nazri had then said: "I sympathise with the executive councillor, this thing should have not happened as she is the people's representative and she had been performing her duties. Therefore, to foil what she has done for the community in this manner is not good. But I hope her spirits (remain strong) and she will not bother about what has happened."
For more of the story, read my post UMNO's Nazri supports Elizabeth Wong, PKR's Khalid Ibrahim equivocates.
And may I remind everyone again that Nazri was/is UMNO, (then, but now the late) Khalid Ibrahim was (wakakaka) PKR and Eli was/is PKR! Gawd, gasp, omigosh (Eli's lovely expressions), what a f*up party PKR has been!
