UMNO No 2 race - when it rains it pours!

Malaysiakini has been kept busy with headlines like Ku Li: ROS can stop Umno polls and Tensions rise between No 1, No 2 camps.

Both referred to UMNO’s internal jostling for the No 2 position (and from there to No 1) where favourite Ali Rustam was threatened with charges of money-politics unless he withdrew from the UMNO deputy presidential race.

He had to!

One of the arguments against Ali Rustam has been that he will be a monumental disaster as a future DPM because he is not fluent in English.

It also doesn’t help that Ali Rustam is in AAB’s camp while one of the other candidates, Muhyiddin Yassin, is Najib’s preferred deputy.

The latest gossip is that the frustrated and angry Ali Rustam’s camp will throw their support behind ‘I can’t speak/read English’ Muhammadx2 Taib.

Of the three contenders, I reckon the double-Muhammad will be the Godzilla of all political disasters.

But let's return to Ali of Malacca.

I don’t have any sympathy for Ali Rustam, and neither does Kayveas of PPP wakakaka.

Ali Rustam was the man, who as ‘guest of honour’ at the PPP annual general assembly in Malacca in October 2007, sneeringly told the
PPP to get out of Barisan Nasional if the party wishes.

Yes, as PPP's 'guest of honour' at the party's most important annual event!

Ali spat out those tsunamic hurtful words while gesturing rudely at the totally gobsmacked and highly humiliated PPP delegates: “PPP can leave BN. All of you can leave. Either today or tomorrow. Why wait until the general election? What’s there to wait for?”

It was an ugly pooarah (f* off) to Kayveas and his PPP members!

I blogged on the sorry saga in
The total humiliation of PPP - a lesson for BN parties.

Ali Rustam had been the man who completely forgot about the traditional etiquette of the Malays to be bersopan-santun (exercising good manners) and berhalus (showing refined behaviour), more so when he was afterall the PPP's guest of honour.

Apart from wondering how those PPP people could have the face (and certainly the thick hide) to swallow that humongous insult and utter humiliation, and remain like dumb-struck donkeys in the BN, we have come to learn that Ali Rustam had not been a nice person at all.

AAB was an equal a$$h*le because it took the chairperson of the BN one whole blooming week to comment on that shameful behaviour by Ali Rustam. Even then, AAB was a disgrace in not reprimanding Ali Rustam.

I blogged on that in
PPP a Disgrace - Denied Datukship, Denied Dignity where I wrote (extracts):

… according to Malaysiakini, Mr Slow Motion has finally come out (after an agonizing long and humiliating week for Kayveas and the PPP), no, not to rebuke Ali Rustam for his gross discourtesy as the guest of honour at the PPP Malacca annual assembly (how can, UMNO is never wrong), but to say a wee sweet words at the PPP KL party assembly.

AAB stated: "People don't like to see brothers quarrelling among themselves. They would say the family is not stable. We must always be reasonable and that should be our prime effort. People who fight and oppose us want to see us split.”

My dear PM, the bloke who wanted to see the BN split, by rudely shouting at the PPP to get the hell out of the BN, and mind you, at the PPP Malacca party assembly where he was 'guest of honour', had been none other than the No 1 UMNO man there, Ali Rustam.

Ali Rustam's conduct had been against the hallowed institution of Malay traditional charm and courtesy.

Did I say ‘hallowed institution of renowned Malay traditional charm and courtesy’?

Yes, I did, which brings to mind a Malay saying “Biar mati anak, jangan mati adat” (Better your children die than your traditions), indicating uncompromising Malay pride in their traditions, where courtesy has been the hallmark of Malay culture – well, of most Malays because there has been one who had recently displayed his uncouth behaviour, and in that process, disgraced his ethnic culture.

Mind you, instead of rebuking Ali Rustam, AAB instead chided Kayveas for stating (earlier) what has been and still is the truth, that the BN should not descend into a government "of the few, by the few, for the few". Very few people ever agree with Kayveas but in that statement of his, most would, without any hesitation.

So, on behalf of those long suffering but thick hide and shamelessly mute PPP members I have been delighted when Ali Rustam fell on his own political sword.

Pity UMNO is too scared to remove him as CM Malacca as well – at least that would have stopped the Malacca State sausage-factory from churning out such embarrassing numbers of Datukship awards that would have staggered even the Zimbabwean government and turned them green with envy.

BTW, Jeanne Abdullah has a Malaccan Datukship as well.

But the manoeuvre to oust Ali has brought on a far more frightening prospect, where now Malaysia’s potentially future DPM and (if Najib were to die a premature death like his dad) potentially future PM could well be a man whose name has been etched in red inked ignominy in the files of Australian Immigration.

… because Malaysiakini tells us today that, following the backlash against Muhyiddin Yassin’s candidature, double-Muhammad is now (frighteningly) the favourite in the UMNO deputy presidential race, and that the 'Potential victor' Muhd Taib is not pulling out.

When it rains it f* pours!

Ali Rustam: Even God can’t sink Umno
The Corridors of Power, 19 October 2007

Here's an extract of the article for remembrance .

“This ship in unsinkable, even God Himself can’t sink it!” screamed the newspaper headlines just before the Titanic sailed off on its maiden voyage.

Ali Rustam, the self-proclaimed ‘Senior Vice President’ of Umno -- actually there is no such post but he likes to address himself as such -- stood on stage in front of the entire hall filled with PPP leaders and members, and with fingers pointed said that PPP can leave Barisan Nasional. Leave today, or even tomorrow, said Ali Rustam, just don’t wait for the next election before leaving.

. Such is the arrogance of Umno. And if there were any doubts before this, 15 October 2007 laid that matter to rest once and for all when Ali Rustam repeated numerous times, “I was with Najib yesterday,” as if to send the message to all and sundry that he has Najib’s blessing to tell the Indians and Chinese that they can go back to India and China for all Umno cares.

Umno has ruled Malaysia for 50 years, said Ali Rustam, and they can rule for another 50 years more. And Umno does not need PPP, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, Sabah, Sarawak or anyone else to do this. Yes, and even God Himself can’t sink Umno like He could not sink the Titanic.

Umno does not need any of the component members of Barisan Nasional, Ali Rustam went on. Umno has four million members and it can win the elections without the help of the rest of the component members of Barisan Nasional. Umno has been strong for 50 years and it will continue ruling this country for the next 50 years as well, Ali Rustam assured the assembly of PPP leaders and members.

Ali Rustam was shifting his aim to the Island State south of the border, across the Causeway. Lee Kuan Yew is an old man, argued Ali Rustam, insinuating that the Grand Old Man of Singapore was getting senile, and he is illogical. And to emphasis the point, Ali Rustam repeated, “Yesterday I was with Najib,” as if to again drive the point home that Najib is with him on this.

And as if what he had said thus far was not shocking enough, Ali Rustam took a swipe at the Pahang Menteri Besar. If the Pahang Menteri Besar wants to give you a seat in Pahang then that is his problem. He is crazy and he does crazy things. He can give PPP a seat in Pahang. Why ask from the other states? And the icing on the cake was when Ali Rustam said that if the Prime Minister gives PPP a seat then he has no balls (pengecut). Tak boleh ikut cara dia, Ali Rustam boldly declared. Yes, since Malaysia is part of Melaka and not Melaka that is part of Malaysia, then this would certainly make sense.

But why the need to repeat so many times that he was with Najib the day before? Every time he dropped a bombshell he would add that he was with Najib the day before. What was his message here? Was it that he was delivering Najib’s message or that Najib has endorsed what he is saying? Or is it to demonstrate that he is Najib’s number two?

By the way, Muhammad son of Muhammad, I shall also table the letter you wrote to the late Sultan of Selangor denying you had married his daughter and the second letter you wrote asking for forgiveness plus the marriage certificate from Thailand and other documents related to the matter which I have thus far not published in Malaysia Today. I shall further table documents on the RM800 million loss suffered by the Selangor State government when you badly managed (or maybe purposely engineered) the privatisation of Selangor’s water supply to Puncak Niaga. I shall of course expect you, in turn, to table the Selangor State accounts of those years you were its Menteri Besar to explain what happened to the State’s RM3 billion Ringgit, which seems to have ‘disappeared’.

Muhammad Muhammad Taib found guilty after all
    ===================
Australian Judge Erred In Case Of Malaysian Politician

    Dow Jones International News
    13 October 1998

BRISBANE (AP)--An Australian judge made legal errors in directing a jury which acquitted a top Malaysian politician of Australian currency law breaches involving foreign cash worth A$1.3 million, a superior court ruled Tuesday.

The ruling won't have any effect on the politician's acquittal because under Australian law an acquittal cannot be appealed and a person cannot be tried again on a charge of which they have been acquitted .

Muhammad Muhammad Taib, 52, was acquitted by a Queensland state District Court jury in May this year on one count of knowingly making a false currency report when entering Australia on Dec. 16, 1996, and another of failing to declare currency when leaving six days later.

The charges related to a visit by Muhammad and a family entourage to Brisbane when he was chief minister of the Malaysian state of Selangor.

A prominent member of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's United Malays National Organization party, Muhammad stood down from the post during the trial. He is now facing corruption charges in Malaysia. He has pleaded innocent.

Ruling on legal questions referred to it by prosecutors after Muhammad's acquittal, the Queensland Court of Appeal said trial judge Eric Pratt had erred in his directions to the jury.

The jury brought in not guilty verdicts after Pratt made legal rulings and subsequent directions to the jury on the issue of requisite knowledge.

The superior court found Pratt was wrong to direct the jury that the prosecution had to prove Muhammad knew he had not reported that he was carrying a prohibited amount of cash and that he knew that he was obliged to do so.

The prosecution alleged Muhammad had deliberately failed to report the amount of cash he was carrying in an attempt to hide the money.

The defense claimed the minister did not know he was breaking Australian currency laws.

  16. "Najis and M2T - the Dream Team" -- Wet dream or nightmare? If it is the former, we may have another wet babe C4ed; with Mike Tyson into the picture, even Royalty females are not safe! If it is the latter, the whole of Malaysia will be dalam najis mughallazah, or as they say in English, in deep shit. There is, of course, a third way, which involves having neither of them. But as Malaysia's own treacherous Oracle, Rosmah, has warned us, it is our destiny that Najib should be the pee em of Malaysia! :)

BTW, be prepared for the impending explosion of najis -- Chaptokam would be stuck in deep shit when that happens. :))

  17. Well for a start , I have to admit that I am neither fond of both personalities especially when they are both from UMNO . When I post on Anwar , supporting KTemoc's views it is without blind support or as you say blindly supporting KT , I base my support on what I forsee of Anwar's ambitions and his goons . In other words actions speaks louder than words . Watch what Anwar does or his actions rather than his words which oratorically he is superb , even a bird on a tree will listen to him .

Coming back to the two articles which I posted , I believe I have mentioned that never hope for things to happen , if it does , its a bonus . Take for example 916 which everyone hopes it will happen except people like KT and myself who doesn't believe in Katakcrazy and the bringing down of a legitimate govt thru frogs . I did not happen and to me , its just another day , if it does its a bonus to Malaysians who want a change . What about those who hoped and dreamt of it happening ? And it did not !
I am not like certain people here rantings day in day out for their dreams to come .

Back to the two , I posted it as I feel the two are not suitable candidates and I am sure many of you would agree with me . Malaysians have a peculiar habit and that is SHORT MEMORY . They tend to forget things that happen one year ago or even as short as six months . So the two postings was to remind or recall back things that these two UMNO guys did and I don't condone these people including Toyol .

But for a joker who wrote " Watch for the impending explosion of Chaptokam. He's taken over Ktemoc's blog!! "
I think he just past his puberty age , so I shall not comment on his outburst as I think he's still very sore with me on the Liberation Tabloid issue as what RPK says the truth hurts .

  19. Oh PPP...once great party...so sad...

My grandfather was a die-hard PPP supporter. In those days it really fought for the common people, especially in the Kinta Valley.

But like every other party which becomes a BN component..No, Subordinate...party it ends up as an UMNO groveller, reduced to corruptly licking scraps from the table and whoring off its support.

    Very Sad...

Watch it MCA and Gerakan....you are not far from the edge of the cliff, either...

And DAP...stand up for your principles in Pakatan Rakyat.

Never, never become a mere subordinate party, otherwise Anwar will have you for lunch.
