The Squatgate Commission which submitted its report to the King yesterday has DARINGLY revealed one of its findings which will undoubtedly SHOCK the nation – the victim in the police-enforced nude squat punishment was NOT a Chinese national – Yawnnnnnnnnnn …
However, the public won’t be able to read the full report unless the Prime Minister decides they may. That's democracy at full play.
DAP Fong Kui Lun lamented:
“I feel regret over the statement that it will be up to the government to decide whether to release the report to the public.”
“Why should the public and MPs be denied the first chance to read the report whereas the prime minister and the cabinet will have the golden chance to read it?”
“Instead of treating information as the personal property of the government, the government should start adopting the mindset that information be should regarded as the right of the people.”
He asked whether Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Badawi was serious in moving away from the typical authority's ‘First-World Infrastructure, Third-World Mentality’.
Unfortunately Fong has been incorrect to assume that the information was not the personal property of the government. He should know better as government personal property extended to lost money of various screwedup banks and disastrous companies, etc
Thus far, no one, not one single person, in the authority has been punished for the disgraceful scandal, though 2 China Press editors had to be sacked following government pressure on the newspaper.
