US troops raided an insurgent hideout of Ansar al Islam in the city of Musayaf, south of Baghdad, and uncovered a frightening terrorist bomb plot that aims to attack the New York subway system a la the 7 July London bombing.
The intelligence details stated that 19 suicide bombers using suitcases and baby carriages will conduct the bombing. The New York subway is the 4th largest in the world in terms of volume, moving 4.5 million people each day. The potential carnage will be horrendous.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has hit the security alert button, and an anti-terror clampdown is in effect over New York's subway system.
But Homeland Security officials in Washington pooh-pooh the whole thing, saying the intelligence was dodgy.
