Samukeliso Sithole, 18, a Zimbabwean female athlete has represented her country in international youth athletic. She’s versatile, participating in hurdles, javelin, shot putt and triple jumping. She struck pay dirt in June last year by winning a gold medal for Zimbabwe at a regional athletics tournament in Botswana. Blessed with such athletic prowess, she won significant amounts of money that enabled her to purchase 2 houses.
That dream track (pardon the pun) has now come to a grinding halt. She has been arrested, charged in court for offensive behaviour and jailed for 4 years.
Now, many of you by this stage may already be mumbling curses at Robert Mugabe, thinking old Bob must be bloody responsible. Well, you better stop doing so and apologise immediately ;-) This time we’ll have to let Mugabe go as he wasn’t involved in any way. He’s probably having a quiet chuckle, like me, and soon, you too.
Samukeliso Sithole is a man, or was, or was and then hasn’t been and then is, could be, maybe, or ……….. ;-)
He claimed (to the court) that he was born a female but developed male sex organs after a traditional healer (witch doctor?) cast a spell on him when he did not pay for treatment. He was still insisting he's a woman even after a doctor confirmed to the court his sex.
He posed as a 'she' by wearing stuffed bra and all the necessary accoutrements to support his-her role. While , as a ‘woman’ he or she was among fellow female (excuse the pun again - 'fellow' & 'female', got it?) athletes undressing in front of him-her in the locker room. I am surprise that at those 'revealing' moments, Samukeliso Sithole didn’t immediately jump up and do the pole vault ;-)
Now, that would undoubtedly have been a gold winning performance!
