In the Transylvanian region, there’s never a lack of ghoulish excitement. Last month we had a Romanian priest crucifying (with nails) a young nun, whose only sin was to dare defy him. The priest and 4 other nuns who abetted the priest have been charged with murder.
Now we move across the border to Ukraine, where a 29-year old “witch” lured street children to her abode, intoxicated them and then extracted their blood to quench her “vampire” thirst. She hasn’t actually killed anyone, yet, because when she had siphoned off blood to an extent that weakened those kids, she chucked them out, replacing them with new suckers … (eh no, she’s the sucker) … victims.
The police noted that her apartment was painted black, with all the windows covered with thick black cloth to stop natural light coming in. The only light in her place came from black candles. Heavy odour of incense permeated the air. Police found a number of drugged children strapped to beds and benches. They also discovered a large, black knife and silver goblet engraved with satanic symbols.
Across another of Romania's borders lies Hungary, the famous country of the infamous Elizabeth Bathory, probably the world's most evil vampiress. In the 16th Century she murdered 600 young virgins, so as to bathe in their blood. What a bloody waste (excuse the pun).
The reason? To maintain her beautiful complexion - presumably keeping it a rosy pink?
She was eventually caught and condemned by the King to be sealed up alive in a room of her castle. She was never seen again.
