London under Attack - Why do they hate us?

What did I say about British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw blaming the bomb attacks on London as an attempt to derail the G8 Summit? Straw was obviously trying to divert attention from the link between the London attacks and the British military presence in Iraq.

It was the same formula the former Spanish PM had used with the Madrid train bombing – he blamed it on the Basque separatists to avoid having Spain’s membership in the Coalition of the Willing identified as the cause of the bombing.

Now, British Home Secretary Charles Clarke is trying the same old trick by averring that there is no evidence to link the attacks on London public transportation with Britain’s military presence in Iraq.

He has essentially done a 'George Bush' by alleging that the bombers wanted to destroy the ‘very essence’ of British society. He said:

"The fact is that the people who make these kinds of attacks are about destroying the very essence of our society: our democracy, our media, our multicultural society and so on.”

"That's not about Iraq or any other particular foreign policy issue, it's about a fundamentalist attack on the way we live our lives."

I guess what they say about politicians has been never more true than exemplified by Charles Clarke's sheer BS.

The following reminds us of what George Bush claimed in his speech to a joint session of Congress and the American People on September 20, 2001

“Americans are asking; 'why do they hate us?' They hate what they see right here in this chamber - a democratically elected government. Their leaders are self-appointed. They hate our freedoms - our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.”

Indeed, why do they hate Americans? James Sandrolini, a board member of Chicago Media Watch, answered this American query.
