London under Attack - Malaysian Hi Comm Sleeping?

Revathy Balasubramaniam, a Malaysian IT consultant in London, was a passenger on the ill-fated double-decker bus No 30 which blew up in Tavistock Square on Thursday. She suffered injuries on her head and back. She has been operated upon, and has since been discharged. She continues to receive outpatient treatment.

Good heavens. After Malaysian PM stated that no Malaysian was injured, we all heaved a big sigh of relief. Now this, please explain, Malaysian High Commission?

  1. It is actually understandable that Malaysia's High Comm doesn't know anything. I wouldn't actually report any injuries to myself to the High Comm either.

  2. Disagree with you, Jon. For example, we can't and shouldn't expect "dead" Malaysians, thankfully none, to "report" to the Hi Comm?

The M'sian Hi Comm, like other Hi Comm and Embassies should have sent its staff to check with the British Foreign Office, Police, Hospital and other authority sources. That's why they are there, to represent Malaysia and Malaysians.

It's understandable if , say a Malaysian was killed and the body still unidentified and unrecovered - but in this case, the lady in question had been submitted to the hospital, so there would have been a record of a Malaysian suffering from injuries.
