Italians Want to Arrest CIA Operatives

The Italian government is pissed off with the Americans, or so it says.

The CIA has brazenly kidnapped an Egyptian imam, Osama Mustapha Hassan, on Italian soil in an extraordinary rendition, to whisk the man off to Egypt for a little old fashion Gestapo-type torture.

The Italian court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the 13 CIA operatives who were so bold as to use their own names. I like to see that, meaning what are the bloody chances of it ever happening?

The Americans claimed that the Italian government had been informed, and the Italian opposite number of the CIA had given the OK for the CIA kidnapping. Even though the Italian government has denied agreeing to such an illegal activity, I tend to believe the CIA in this case because the Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi has been and still is a “yes-man” of Washington. Now that the ugly matter has come out in the open, Berlusconi has to answer to the pride, dignity and honour of the Italian people.

The Italians have been fuming at the American treachery ever since the US military in Baghdad killed an Italian secret agent in an alleged attempt to murder released hostage, Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena - the accusation has been that the US frowned upon and would act against any negotiated release of any kidnapped hostages by Iraqi insurgents, as had been similarly alleged in the case of Australian hostage, Douglas Wood.
