Unite all Malay parties to
strengthen political
standing, says Bersatu

Bersatu Supreme Council member Redzuan Yusof proposes merging his party, Umno and PAS under one umbrella.
Bersatu Supreme Council member Redzuan Yusof said he would engage party leaders using a “diplomatic strategy” to form a coalition among the three Malay-based parties, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“That is the best way to strengthen Malay leadership. The coalition formula is clear but there should not be any abuse of power,” he was quoted as saying.
“Since 67 years of independence, the Malays have been leading the nation but what has been the position of the Malays all this while?”
This is not the first time that a merger among Umno, PAS and Bersatu has been proposed. In June, former Umno member Annuar Musa said true unity can only exist if these three parties unite.
The last time the three parties united was when they formed the government in March 2020 following the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan administration.
Redzuan said internal conflict among the Malays has led to the fragmentations of Malay political parties, with some prioritising financial gain, and others fighting for an honest struggle.
The former entrepreneur development and cooperative minister also praised PAS for its consistency and willingness to collaborate with Bersatu.
“From my own survey, seven out of 10 respondents admire PAS because of its values,” he said.
“PAS is a corruption-free party with good discipline. They like PAS, but may disagree that the party should lead the nation,” he said.
Redzuan said Umno’s reputation is only tarnished because of former prime minister Najib Razak’s involvement in the 1MBD scandal.
“Umno remains relevant today. It has a good structure, but its chances of returning to power seem uncertain, as the trend (previously) indicated a decline,” he said.
He said Bersatu does not have a genuine struggle and its agenda needs to be made clearer to position itself as a viable alternative party for Malay voters.
“We, as members of Bersatu, cannot be comfortable but we have to find opportunities to attract more Malays to support us,” he said.
